Hello,
I just bought an SSG69, 308, folding rear sight, non adjustable front sight, 5 digit serial # and is from Grand Rapids, Mi.
Could anyone give me some info on this rifle, such as a year of manufacturing. I think its an older rifle.
Thanks for your time.
John

Re: Need some info. on SSG69 Grand Rapids,Mi.

Welcome,

Are you sure your rear sight is foldable? all of the rear sights i've seen are adjustable with a small screwdriver for windage but do not fold.

Your front sight may have a hood on it & mine is adjustable for elevation.

What import marks are on it?

Older ones that i know of are marked "Gun South Inc, Trussv. AL"

Do you have a butter knife bolt handle or is it a roundish bolt knob?

Butterknife = SSG 69 P1 lighter barrel = older model
Roundish knob = SSG 69 P2 heavy barrel = newer police model.

Sounds like you may have a SSG P1 due to serial number & iron sights.

A call to Steyr may get you the mfg date.

Thanks awp762.
Yes the rear sight is foldable, no screw. The front sight is in a dove tail no screw. It does have a butterknife bolt.
I just got an email from Steyr about a guy I can call about the manufacture date, I'll post the info. when I get it.
Thank you for taking the time to help.
Regards,
John
