Can anyone suggest the best shop to do a rebarrel in Texas. I am in Houston but would be willing to take it anywhere in Texas. I am looking for the best options. I know this leaves it open for everyones opinions, but that's okay. I want to hear all options. Thanks

Re: Need someone to rebarrel my rifle

Well.. I'm in Houston and I put my action and barrel in a box and send by FedEx Ground to Robert Synder.. wait a few weeks.. and it shows back up.

He is here on the Hide and does good work at a fair price.

Houston area? I have sent a lot of people to Kenny Porter and all of them have been more then pleased with his professionalism, his turn around time and his prices.

That being said, I am sending my rifle back to APA today for a rebarrel. Jered and Dave built the rifle, they will get it back when I shot out the barrel. They might not be in TX, but they do build some of the best rifles around.

Well, you could stop all this noise and give us a call 214.673.5510 and discuss your project with a real rifleman/gunsmith. His name is Gene Williams and he is located in Princeton just a few miles north of Dallas. There are lotsa guys on this forum who depend on him to keep their toys running.

Re: Need someone to rebarrel my rifle

Thanks for all the input. I am building a .300 wby mag. I know I know why a wby mag and not a win mag. Well long story short I already have everything under the sun but a .300 wby mag and happen to have a model 700 just sitting in the safe begging to be built up, so that is what i am doing. Thanks again
