is there such thing as finding a trg action and barrel in 300 win mag ? or do i need to find a used tikka varmint and sell the rest @ have a barrel made? trying to build something in a mcmillan a2 stock. with as close to trg action as i can get. thanks

Re: need to find sako or tikka action

Why not buy it complete.
If the barrellength on the original gun is ok with you, it will shoot more than good enough for all purposes except benchrest.
They are really amazingly good, also the Tikka T3 barrels.

Re: need to find sako or tikka action

what original gun? on the website it said, Overall length without muzzle brake in 300 win mag.
TRG-42 20” barrel @ TRG-42 27” barrel
i just want the 27" with the muzzle brake. my luck it will only fit the trg action thread pitch. wish i could find tikka tactical in 24 inch barrel then just restock it. the mcmillan stock just fits me better, im a short fat guy. local gun shop said he could only order one with 20" barrel

Re: need to find sako or tikka action

Just buy a regular T3 then re-barrel and restock it. There's no diff in the t3 light action vs the tactical or varmint. Or find a trg-s in 300 and restock with a a-5. Keeping in mind you have to use the McMillan bm when you go that route.

Just buy a regular T3 then re-barrel and restock it. duh, i guess im just a dumd ass i did not think of that

. i have seen a used one at the local gun shop not in 300win mag. it was in 338 fed and he wanted $499. he said a guy had it for 4 weeks & shot it 5 times. he came back said he wanted to sell it. it probably kicked the living shit out of him

. {Keeping in mind you have to use the McMillan bm when you go that route} McMillan bm? what do you mean?

T3 Lite action
Brux Rem. Varmint contour 26" barrel
CDI DBM
EGW HD 20MOA rail - USGW modified to 30MOA, 8-48 screws and double-pinned to action
UGSW bolt handle mod.
UGSW double-pinned recoil lug
USGW SS pillars
UGSW Bad AZZ brake
UGSW reworked trigger
All action work, chambering, brake install (and *LOTS* more!) done by UGSW.

It all gets dropped into a specially modified Manners T2 90% carbon stock.

This rifle should be complete within the week.

Re: need to find sako or tikka action

very nice please keep me updated ! that will be the best way to do mine. buy a t3 in 300 win mag cerakote or duracoat the action black rebarrel it & restock it. i have a custom barrel my friends dad cut for me but its a 1 in 12 twist, with a 1.200 to .920 taper. at 24 inches. it was made for my m40a1 build i have not done yet. i have used his barrels before and thay shoot great. after doing it for 14 years i think he knows how to make a barrel.

Re: need to find sako or tikka action

Sako TRG-S rifles can be found for as little as 4-500 COMPLETE sometimes. As worthless as Gander Mountain is, I have seen a couple TRG-Ss in .30-378 for that cheap. Shitcan the stock and barrel and you have a NICE action for a build.

JB's a smart guy, and a first class guy to do business with, I haven't talked to him in years, but every dealing I've had was perfect, plus he KNOWS a lot about SAKO's.

Re: need to find sako or tikka action

If you go with a trg-s with a McMillan A-5 you have to run their (bm) bottom metal. It is nice, but pushes the cost up.

Or you could go with a Manners or McMillan for the t3 and run CDI bm. I'll have to get some new pictures of that one.

Re: need to find sako or tikka action

thats nice, what barrel did u use? i was thinking of using my 308 barrel but want to keep it for my m40a1 that i hope to do sometime this century

useing it would keep the cost down a little but it would have to be 308 because its 1 in 12. to bad its not 1 in 11 thats what the trg barrel is on the website. guess i have one built like a trg with the trg brake
