anyone here shooting a nemesis arms takedown (Vanquish Multi-Caliber) I'm interested in one in 308. it would be great to hear from someone who has shot this and a trg 22 and get their thoughts on them competitively

thanks

Re: nemesis arms

What are your intended uses?

The Nemesis looks handy if you need a rifle that fits into a briefcase, but besides that I can't imagine it being more comfortable to shoot then a TRG, AI or McMillan/Manner's stocked custom rifle. I can't even begin to imagine shooting a tactical competition with a Nemesis.

I'm thinking the same thing. For the price of the Nemesis Vanquish, you can buy a custom rifle in nearly any configuration you want. Unless the part-time assassin business takes off.

HAHA , I just like the look of the ugly thing...that alone would definitely be a conversation piece . more so I also like the takedown and quick barrel change option in order to use one platform for different cals. , the trg is almost just as costly once you factor all the accessories etc....

I'm more interested in the accuracy potential compared with the TRG. trying to short list my next purchase.

edit to add: intended uses hunting, paper punching and perhaps comps thought i currently do not, most likely piss-around comps with friends

Re: nemesis arms

I haven't shot the Vanquish, but I have had the pleasure of shooting their .50 which was an extremely nice gun.

The only feature that these have that I would prefer over a standard custom rifle is the quick change option. Other than that, I just don't see a need for it, and I would prefer the ergonomics and stability of a standard stock.

I agree that these look awesome. However, looking awesome and being useful are very different things, and they do not always intersect. Many times they do on this board, but before sinking that kind of money into it, I would do a LOT of research, and see if you can't find a way to hold one/shoot one.

Re: nemesis arms

I have one with the 16.25 inch .308 and 20 inch 6.5 creedmoor barrels. I am still looking for a good .308 load, and so far can only get .75 to 1 moa even with factory match ammo. But the 6.5 creedmoor shoots much better. I've gotten it down to .3 moa with reloads.
Personally, I like it very much and am happy with it. Also David Ives and everyone I've talked to at Nemesis Arms were always accessible, helpful, and friendly.

Re: nemesis arms

Talk to you fellow Canadian "Caramel", he apparantly shoots .2moa out to 2000m with his. Claims it's the best gun in the history of planet earth.

For clarity, that's the EDM Arms M96 Windrunner, the rifle the Nemesis Arms rifle is derived from. EDM used to sell a .308WIN Mini-Windrunner about five or six years ago, but sold or licensed it to Nemesis who have further developed it into their own. There are a number of threads here about them and at least a few Hiders bought them during a group buy (IIRC) at one point. The consensus seems to be that they are accurate, well built and versatile. At the same time, reading one particular thread where the owner chimed-in sort of soured me on them, so I guess your mileage may vary.

ya I have spoken with him, and he is VERY happy with it and apparently produces great groups, I'm looking around to see it more people have had as good of an experience with the vanquish..

Re: nemesis arms

I won't be able to tell you for about a month. My brothers vanquish should be here by that time and it will get a good run through. It seems to me that the versatility is unmatched at this time except for the DTA and or AW which is well more expensive than what he is paying for the one coming. 900 or so for barrels that you can spin on in just a couple of seconds and take down to put into a back pack without loss of zero. The 900 or so is what it would cost for me to get another barrel made for my AI or Gap to change calibers and that is without the meloniting process. So, no difference there and the cost of the one coming is way less than I have payed for the customs that I have. I think that it will be a great purchase for him. Plus, he doesn't have tons of time to spend out shooting so I will be able to use it for testing and comparison purposes whenever I need to.

I have a nemesis in .308,with a .243 cal conversion. It's a great rifle platform.I've shot TRG22's and many other accurate .308 rifles and it'll keep up with them if you do your part.As with every retractable(rod) stocked rifle, adding a crossbar stabilizer will make it steadier. It slow's the takedown process a bit,but not by much.It holds zero without issue, even after multiple cal changes.I have detachable scopes zero'd for each caliber and a Pulsar digital scope. Most of the time it wears the digiscope,as it can be used in the daytime too.Haveing an accurate rifle that fits into a backpack and can be used night or day is priceless.I don't leave home without it.It's worth the wait.

It would be GREAT if you could PM me once you have tested it, by the time you have it I'll likely forget about this thread.

thanks

what size of groups are you able to obtain with it on a regular basis?
also I'm not sure where you are located but and how cold it get there but I've heard rumors that the vanquish has a hard time in the cold . and it get bloody cold in winnipeg.
can you put any thought on this and also have you had any issues?
?

I waited forever, and spent 5,300 bucks for I believe was either a lemon or something??? Ok, the magazine doesn't feed properly AT ALL. The rods on the stock are weak and twist like a coat hanger, but that is probably because I was trying really hard to get a fucking bullet in the chamber!!! Every .308 bullet that I have used (about 15 different makes plus some lapua brass reloads) WON'T FIT. So I went to a gun smith 3 times to get him to put a reamer to it and adjust the throat, and figured out we had a shitty bolt to add to it. I have the desert tactical arms SRS in 308, and 338 Lapua...totally different PERIOD and the SRS is superior in every way imaginable. Thanks fuck this gun! </div></div>
Why didn't you send it back?
