It's been a while since I had a 1911 so I figured I better get while the getting's good. I started this 1911 with the slide job and had all intentions to finish it. With Rifle builds going I asked Jim Clark Jr. to finish fitting the other parts. The frame & slide were slightly out of spec and he had a time fitting it up, glad I asked him to do it

If you ever need 1911 work, Jim Clark, Jr. is your man. Hell of a nice guy.

What did you have done to it? Can you post a pick? He sure does nice work.

I carried the Glock 19 at SPD and while it shot great, it never had that solid feel. The 1911 has never had that problem and is why I wanted another one. Thanks for the kind words.

All of the parts was around $1,100

I started the slide job and did the final blending of the grip safety to frame and slide safety, installed the novac sights and painted it. Jim & crew did the other internal fitting, sear work and slide job tweak. I was going to do 1911 work but after this one, no way. There's way too much work that goes into one of these. I can now see why some 1911 smiths are 12+ months out.

I'm in Jims shop three to four times a week. I know the other pistol smiths and 10/22 smith that work there, all great guys. I see his builds from the ground up and all that’s involved, they truly work magic at Clarks Custom Guns.

Re: New 1911

Nice touch on the extractor being the same color as the frame there.

Definitely needs a magwell! And you must have some huge mitts to shoot with that long trigger + arched MSH.
