New 20" Rem 5R threaded - shotgun pattern

I just put together a new 20" 5R with the following accessories:

Nightforce NXS 12-42-56mm with NP1 reticle
PRI intermediate rings
PRI 20 MOA one piece base
Gemtech HVT Phantom bi-lock (for my TPR-S suppressor)

I went to break it in with 168gr FGMM, and it's shooting a heinous 2.5 MOA group at 100. Could the Bi-Lock be causing this?

Re: New 20" Rem 5R threaded - shotgun pattern

Yep. I only fired two shots with the suppressor mounted, and it was a 7 MOA drop from the original group (on my LTR, which has a lighter barrel, the drop is only 1 MOA) so I went back to loud to try to figure out what the problem is. I'm going to dismount the Bi-Lock in the morning and try it again, but that's going to truly piss me off if I can't use my can on a factory threaded gun.

Try shooting without the can. I've had thread adapters turn .5 moa rifles into 4 moa rifles, for no explainable reason at all.

Edit: saw you posted after I started typing. Yes, take the muzzle device off. It could be causing issues.

ME too.

I stripped it down and reassembled it to make sure all the screws and fasteners were torqued properly before I fired the first shot, so I don't think it's that. I'm going to dismount and remount the base and rings again just to make sure nothing is fucked up in that regard either.

Pisses me off. One of my friends just got one of the 24" 5Rs last week, and he fired a .5 MOA 5-shot group at 500 today.

Re: New 20" Rem 5R threaded - shotgun pattern

Do they threads look concentric. I know it doesnt take a lot to f it up but I may be something obvious upon a closer look. I doubt it is the rings or base. Any obvious stress in the stock/action when loosening the action screws?

Figured it out. The crown looks like it was cut by retarded monkeys. Took it back to the dealer, and we looked at all 4 of the 5rs he had in stock. They all were cut by the same hydrocephalic simian, complete with chatter marks.

Dealer took it back, and he's sending all the guns to the smith for an 11 degree crown. He had a shiny new XCR .300WM in stock that does NOT look like it was crowned with a Pakistani pocketknife. It came home with me instead.

I said this awhile back in another thread...<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: Tango__Down</div><div class="ubbcode-body">I was about to pick up an Sps awhile back but after looking at several the store had I just left. I didn't expect that from the 5Rs!!! Rem. must really be going down hill.

Brother I'm glad to too that you didn't let big green put it in you.

Good for you!

Well, I tell you this - I'm going to go shoot the XCR in the morning, and if it isn't a hair-splitting motherfucker I'm going to shove it up Remington's ass. This is ridiculous.

Can't vouch for all of them but every xcr I've seen or heard about shoots lights out, mine included. Sorry about the bad luck, hopefully the xcr will work out for you.
