New .300BLK brass; $.185 per 10,000?

Is this a good price, $.185 ea. for 10,000 pieces? That's $1850 for the lot. I was offered $.180 per 20,000 but asked if they'd drop it to $.180 per 10,000.

Or should I shoot for a lower price?

Best I've found so far was $.27 ea. and I got 2000 at that price (those were Mast). It's new annealed brass but I'm not sure what headstamp is on the 10,000. I'm sure it's not Lapua or Hornady or anything nice. Probably Gemtech or Mast.

Cripes! Do you need 10k?

Im seeing federal brass on brownells for .21 cents per in a 250 bag, its at least lower than the .27 cents for starline and you can be confident of its headstamp. For an order that large I would think that 18 cents per is a bit high in that volume unless you know for a fact that its all one lot and not an assortment. I can find just bulk ready to load range pick up on google for 11-12 cents per

I buy true 1xLC LE range pickup off Etsy for $45-$50 for 1000 and convert thousands at a time very quickly on my XL650. At $0.045-$0.05 each I could never justify buying new 300blk brass. Sub 0.5" 5 shot groups at 100yds, steel 10/10 at 500yds, I don't look further.

10k because I won't have to play fuck-fuck games when the next president causes a run on ammo and components. Also, prices never went back down. Had I just bit the bullet and bought all the ammo I needed 15 years ago, I'd be golden and it would have cost a lot less too. Not doubling down on my mistake. I know I'll want this and I'll use it. At some point I won't feel like or want to load anymore and won't have the money to afford a gross shooting habit. My older self will appreciate myself now for doing it.

What's the price over raw brass for cases? How much should I be paying them? This I don't know. That price on American Eagle looks good so I wonder. I figure Mast and American Eagle are probably on par --ammo loaded using those two generally costs about the same. I have used some factory ammo loaded using Mast and it was fine. I think Gemtech is probably made on Mast's machines.

What would you guys pay for a large quantity of factory brass?

I thought of doing that but Dillon talked me out of it. They said the trimmer wasn't designed for that and they were seeing markedly early wear on 'em. But I've never talked to anyone who said "fuck it" and did it anyway, so how'd it work out? How many can you cut before wearing out a trimmer (or have you not yet?). That's the reason I bought it in the first place and part of the reason why I figured they only sell the carbide trim die. Even Dillon told me to get one of those Harbor Freight cut off saws, so I guess that's the standard.

Hold on, you also have an annealer and I don't and forming LC brass isn't worth it IMO unless you anneal the necks (or use it once and discard I guess). I've also got a full plate and not looking for more work, I load for an M2HB remember (it's a real job with no pay) so unless I can throw it in the 650 and literally crank it out, followed by a relatively quick, easy and automated annealing setup, I don't wanna mess with it.

But I am interested in your method from go to stop. And how exactly you are using your trimmer.

I've talked to Dillon and they set me up on exactly what I needed. I've done probably 10k and trimmer works great. I've probably trimmed all together 75k on it so far and trimmer blade is good as new. No idea.

I set shoulder and trim on the 300blk trim die then I anneal then use a neck mandrel on the 650 to finish setting neck tension. Creates beautiful brass.

So you're cutting a 5.56 case using NOTHING but the trimmer? I'm gonna call Dillon later and see if I can get a better reason or number before failure on that trimmer, because if I could do that, I'd probably get a good annealer and just do it. I can get 5.56 for a helluva lot less than 5 cents, so it would super cheap.


But to everyone else, what seems like a good price on BLK brass? In 10k pieces or more?
