I need some help finding some Lapua brass and Berger 140 gr. vld's. Seems as though all the places I have looked have been out of everything. Was wondering if someone had some in surplus and maybe want to sell some!!!!!!!!!!!!! If not I understand, just having a new rifle built and thought I could kill 2 birds at one time by having a great long range rifle plus a caliber not everyone would be buying. Looks like I am wrong again, lol, so any help with where to buy some supplies would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Jim

Re: New 6.5/284

I don't know how hell bent you are on 140's, but when I had a 6.5x284 I ran 130's. Seemed the velocity overode the higher bc of the 140.
Both the Berger and Norma 130gr are very capable bullets.
Velocity drops fast per 10gr of weight in a 6.5.
At least you can get to reloading and shooting, www.gunstop.com

Re: New 6.5/284

Seems you can always find the brass, it's the bullets that are hard to get. Lots of people shooting the 6.5s.

I've got some 140gr Amax and maybe some 140gr Berger VLDs. I ended up going with the 139gr Scenars. I'll get back with you on a count.

Re: New 6.5/284

Not really hell bent on 140's but, new to 6.5/284 and found a lot of info about 140 VLD's,h4350sc, lapua brass, you know just shit like that. Haven't read to much about the 130's, so why don't you enlighten me on the 130's and any information you feel a man new to this round might need to know. I would for ever be in your debt.http://www.snipershide.com/forum/images/icons/default/thumbs_up.gif Thanks Jim <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: milo-2</div><div class="ubbcode-body">I don't know how hell bent you are on 140's, but when I had a 6.5x284 I ran 130's. Re: New 6.5/284

I see you are from Gillette Wyoming, hoping to be in your part of the world in October, around Douglas, on a cow elk hunt. Was in Douglas a few years ago on a speed goat hunt. Beautiful country and super people. Looking forward to going there again.

OK,
Go here, http://www.6mmbr.com/SixFive284.html

All load data is 140. Get into a ballistics program and run say Norma 130 with bc of .575 at 3050 fps and compare the numbers to the 140's. Some is better, some not.
I shot mine out to 1320, yes wind affected it big time, but it would have a 140 also.
I was just saying, you can buy 130's right now, 140's are out the picture for the moment.

You want some Norma's, pm me, I just bought 1k more from a Hide member.
