New Alpha Go-Gauges: Make it Make Sense

I'm trying to make sense of how you would use it. The +.004 means it's 4 thou longer than min saami? So this something to set your headspace at 4 over saami rather than a go no go?

I thought the same thing when I got the email. I deleted it but I could have sworn it said the gauges were carbide. (Which, if they are, helps explain the price.) The lack of info on the website, including their material, adds to folks wondering why they are so expensive. Assuming they are carbide, how many thousands/tens of thousands of times would a person or shop need to use them to notice a difference?

I assumed they cut and pasted the verbiage from the no-go gauge and used it on the go-gauge page I posted above.

I just checked and everything was changed on the website just now, so maybe they read the post....

@Jingoist, or just don’t buy these gauges and use what works best for you? What’s wrong with a company making a product, even if premium, if there’s a market? You aren’t their target audience and that’s fine. I don’t have a need for them either but I don’t fault them for making them and hopefully turning a profit.

I don’t have an issue with them charging for what they believe is a superior product. I would however ask for details of the design objectives that make it worth looking at.
