I have been lurking on the board for a few years, just trying to learn where ever and when ever possible. Over that time I have started to put together my own AR's. I love to build the rifles and experiment with new parts. Here are some pics of my latest build. I did not need another rifle but there were some new parts that I had to play with. I will apologize in advance for the quality of the pics.

    Parts list:

    Seekins upper and lower receive
    LaRue trigger
    BAD ambi safety
    Odin Works extended magazine release
    JP variable mass BCG
    JP SCS
    Geissele super charging handle
    KNS take down pins
    Magpul UBR Gen 2 stock
VSeven barrel, ultra light hand guard and blast deflector
    SLR adjustable gas block
Kinetic Development Groups 30mm sidelock mount
Planning to add a Razor Gen 2-E 1-6x scope

Over the years I have moved toward threaded lowers and uppers to reduce the possibility of loosing detents and springs. The Seeking upper was threaded for the forward assist and the lower was threaded for the bolt release. I tapped and threaded the lower for the safety detent. I also use KNS take down pins to remove those springs and detents.

Feel free to ask questions and critique the rifle. I am always open to hear other peoples opinion and inputs because I have built my rifles in a vacuum. By that I mean I started tweaking rifles by myself and they are FAR from perfect.

A lighter scope than the Razor? But I’m not sure what would be better, that’s the problem for many people!

You have hit my biggest quandary right on the head. I like the Kahles K16i and the Leupold VX HD1-6 and both are lighter than the Razor Gen II-E. The biggest reason for going with the Razor is that I have spent zero time behind a LPVO. Based on cost and specs I think the Razor is a better option to cut my teeth on.

Thanks all. Anything that you guys would change or improve on?

Objectively, what you built is high speed. The JP bolt and SCS are an awesome addition to any build, exactly what I would recommend if someone is willing to pay for it.

If I had to critique: I would probably run a Geissele SD-E or SSA-E trigger instead of the Larue. The Razor is definitely a pig of a scope, even the E version, but it's a quality optic and most people can look past the weight. The UBR is kind of a heavy stock for a build that is leaning towards the lightweight end of the scale (considering the barrel/rail/bolt), but it can definitely balance out certain guns, and could work nicely with the Razor in a cantilever mount. Also, I would run a muzzle brake personally just because that thing is going to spit fire anyways and it's not a short barrel where you need a linear comp/ blast shield type setup.

The Razor is probably the most popular LPVO out there and is a good place to start with LPVOs. I actually just started a thread here and on ar15.com about my dilemma of choosing between the VX-6, Razor, or something else in 1-6.

When I bought the JP bolt the SCS was included free of charge. I was a short lived special JP ran.

Thanks for your suggestions. I have multiple Geissele triggers and they are great. I used the LaRue because it is a tank and a very good value.

Yeah, the Razor is a pig and that could change.

The UBR second gen is a little lighter but does shift the weight rearward but that is how I like it. There are lighter options for sure.

This is the first blast deflector I have tried and wanted to test it out. Push comes to shove I will run the rifle suppressed.

I have been following the VX-6 thread. I agree, this can be a quandry.
