I’m having PVA spin me up a new barrel chambered in 6 Creed as I write this. I’ve got a lot of Prime 6.5 brass, and bought 300 pieces of Peterson 6.5 brass to neck down. My question is, should I use the Prime brass to break in the barrel or should I use the Peterson brass and double down to form the brass while breaking in the barrel? My limited knowledge is telling me to use the Peterson.

ill usually load up about 100 at min spec / factory headspace and fireform the brass i want to start load development with in order to guage what my brass bump will be & to also break in the barrel before I do any type of real load development... first 100 rounds or so IMO is just for fireforming, breaking in the barrel, and to get my rifle sighted in with a couple rounds out of the 100.. I don't do any type of "break in" personally, but I will clean the barrel and chamber when I first get it just to make sure there is nothing in the barrel before I send that first round down the tube :)

Imo, you can ditch the idea of fireforming and break-in. Just load develop. Load both makes of brass to compare against one another, and begin finding what works. If josh is doing your barrel, its going to be a premium blank, and the gun will shoot from round number 1. Unless you want to stockpile loaded ammo, you dont need a ton of brass. 200 pieces of Peterson brass will be plenty to smoke that barrel. I dont know anything about the prime brass, but the Peterson is good stuff.
