New bolt-action, suggestions welcome

Gona be getting back from deployment in a couple months and looking for any suggestions for a new bolt action. currently i have a 91/30 mosin nagant which is fun but more for show. Currently looking at remington-700s and some of the savage models.

-under $1,000 bolt action rifle
-accurate enough for 500+ at the range
-enough stopping power to take down full sized bucks

The 700 will have plenty of aftermarket options if you decide to change anything. I started with a 700 xcr that was very accurate in 308 win. 1/2 moa was the norm when new. That model you could also get in a 300 win mag. Don't have any experience with savage. Both of these will be easier to find ammo for if you don't reload.
