I’d been thinking for a while about building another 6CM for varmints, deer and such. I have an 18# Match 6CM, I love it but not one to pack around much.

Built a 7saum last year with a Proof Carbon barrel that is great so was leaning that direction again. Low and behold Carbon6 had some good specials running last Christmas. Decided to give them a try. Donor action was an older Tikka CTR in .260R That was already sitting in a McMillan Gamehunter.

Received the new 20” barrel in a little less than 2 months. Dropped at my Gunsmith who got right on it. Threaded both ends, used a .109” throat reamer, opened the barrel channel a bit and came out great. Borescope showed a very nice clean bore.

I’m hobbling around on crutches from a broken ankle so have only gotten 35 rnds thru it. Started the breakin and the first patches thru felt like sliding on glass. After a 10 or 12 rnds went right into load development with RL16 and Berger 105vld. 3 rnds each from 38.5gr to 42gr. All of em shot <1” with a couple nice nodes the best @ 41gr. My magnetospeed showed 2968 with SD at 10fps.

Dialed it in at 100 put the numbers in Balistic and went out to my steel. 1st rnd hits a bit high on 10” plates @ 600 and 700. I was tickled! Tweeked things a little and she settled in perfect @ 2975fps. Better than I expected with the 20” barrel.

Turned off cold, snowy and windy again so no more shooting since last week. Get a walking boot in a couple weeks so looking fwd to really playing with this thing some more.

Just noticed all the left boots on the drying rack. Haven’t worn a left boot for nearly a month. Winter keeps hanging on up here. Snow and crutches aren’t a good combo...
