This is a pretty budget friendly set up so far, and I'm sure I'm missing some little piece somewhere.

So far I have -

Remington 700 factory magpul version in 260 Rem, got the triggertech Primary trigger installed. Put an Athlon Midas TAC 6-24 on top with some vortex defender caps. Got the swiveling Harris bipod and the podloc and a couple extra mags to go with it. So far with all this I'm only in the setup about $1500 and I am trying to keep it as budget friendly as possible on the rest.

I know I need a case, and I know I need a rear bag. What else am I missing? Not new to shooting but new to the long range (500-1000yd) game so I have all your normal range gear like ears eyes etc.

ammo and a place to shoot ? oh ammo you want to share with all your new friends lol ? a dog or a truck for that dog ? do you have dope to try maybe a ballistic program or chronograph or access to one it is cheaper than owning it your self , letting someone else pay for the equipment but that is what shooting buddies are for maybe a wind meter but again that could be pushed off on the shooting buddy . good luck Its lots of fun .
oh yea almost for got a cheap note book to write in so you can keep track of hits specifically center hits and dope you used to get those hits .

Yea the place to shoot is an hour away that's why I want to make sure I have everything. There's other firearms to shoot so it wouldn't be a wasted trip but there's a ton of places closer with 25-100yd bays but here in DFW the Triple C Range seems to be the place to go to shoot over 200.

None of my shooting buddies have chrono's they all shoot factory ammo factory weapons. I reload but haven't messed with a chrono really, just sticking to published loads on plinking rounds for 45/300bo and those aren't exactly accuracy driven.

$850 for a ballistic app....Yea the rifle was 675 so I'll try that free one and spend that 850 on more bullets primer and powder.

I didn't think of bringing a notebook to write anything down lol so thanks for that. It's budget friendly

-Ammo
-Solid 100yd zero with said ammo
-Speed of ammo would be nice
-Ballistic app is a bonus and will help conserve ammo (Strelok/ pro is decent)
-notebook and/or data book
-time

I think that's it, with what you've got. Budget friendly version too 👍

Kestrel is much more than a “ballistic app”. But you simply don’t need a Kestrel to get started. The Ballistic ARC app will give you everything you need except weather which you can import. Or you can add a simple Bluetooth weather device for about $75 and get environmentals at your range.
