A couple years ago I decided that I’d like a nice accurate 40S&W and unless I wanted to spend $2000+ my options were limited. This pistol was something I wanted to be able to shoot in competitions if I ever get the chance. My other criteria was a high capacity double stack mag, so that eliminated a lot of 1911 designs. I didn’t want a race gun either, I wanted something more useable. After eliminating all the others for various reasons I ended up settling on the EAA Witness Elite Limited Pro. It had everything I wanted and the promise of being a great shooter. But here’s the rub, I am not a huge fan of shiny SS/chrome finished pistols. So a few months ago I started thinking, maybe I should drop $2000 for a nice STI and be done with it, but then I went out shooting with my brother and nephew and was reminded how accurate this EAA truly is. From 30’ I’m putting 5 rounds into almost one ragged hole, but I always had one flier out of the 5 (still need to tame that down). This might not sound like much to many good shooters out there, but for me it is the best I’ve ever shot with a semi-auto pistol. So what do I do, I don’t like the “look” of the pistol but I also don’t want to get rid of it because it shoots so well. And then it dawned on me, get it Cerakoted.
This began my search for a “local” Smith who does Cerakoting, and the only one I could find near Colorado Springs was Rocky Mountain Weaponry. So I gave Chris Yates a call and asked if he’d ever Cerakoted EAA pistols with the chromed finish and he said he had. Long story short, a couple months later and I have my new EAA Limited Pro in Patriot Brown.
Chris did a fantastic job on the Cerakoting and I cannot find one flaw in it, I am thrilled that I have a pistol that is not just a pleasure to shoot but also looks great too. Enjoy the pics –
