Here is a new shot of the contract .50 Turbodyn. Constructed of 100% stainless steel and 360 degree circumferentially welded. This unit produces less noise than a .22LR. The bullet impact can be heard as the primary source of sound. Pretty damn nice!

Subsonic Ammo?

Re: New contract Turbodyn

subsonic .50 ammo is just about the worst idea i can think of...but until we get the video, i will take his word on it.

Quiet, but I wouldn't say 22LR quiet. </div></div>

NICE! perhaps not like a .22lr, (though its hard to tell from videos as we all know) but i will concede that is just as quiet as my suppressed .243WSSM. and thats good enough for me considering the small bomb launching those 700gr corks.

Re: New contract Turbodyn

New videos will be up on this unit next Wednesday.

This set-up is much quieter than a standard 22lr as it has a brand new baffle set. The specifications were quite demanding and the result spectacular. You are looking at absolutely and catagorically the smallest, quietest, strongest and, has always been, the largest selling .50 set in the world. AWC builds for full velocity, full power and current trajectory values.

POI shift has always been uniform, repeatable and minimal on this unit. .416 standard as well, your Dad is going to have a blast...a very quiet one!

I dunno man this shit looks pretty neat...and they are talking about payloading this 639gr monster with a .243 proj inserted in the hp cavity to enhance terminal performance and to keep center of gravity forward...

Re: New contract Turbodyn

I'm absolutely frying my brains on how anyone in their right mind would or even could believe that a suppressed fifty is quieter than an unsuppressed .22lr.

That being said, I'm still thinking about getting one of these in .416.

Re: New contract Turbodyn

I think the noise we are hearing is the gun not the round going off. Seems like the bolt going back, basically mechanical noise. I wonder if some tested it on a bolt 50?

Re: New contract Turbodyn

A dician, your brain is just fine. There are only four (4) sources of sound from this firearm (aside from any noise the operator may make) they are Blast, Sonic Signature, Action Noise and the sound of the bullet hitting the target. Do not confuse #1 with #2. These .50 cans reduce #1 (there is nothing that can be done about super sonic signature as it is pure physics, except bleed to subsonic, these rigs don't.) Suppressed until it is below the report of a .22LR, that is what you have with the Turbodyn.

Sonics Noise, Action Noise, Impact Noise are what one is left with. Take ANY .22LR along and you can see for yourself, QUIETER.
These cans mounted on any bolt action (now no action noise either) leaves one with an astonishingly quiet rig.
Take ANY .22LR along and you can see for yourself, quieter, MUCH quieter. The new design is now a shifted frequency "thump."

P.S. .416 is EVEN quieter, thats right.

Brain....start here.

Re: New contract Turbodyn

He said it was full power ammo, But ya i can defenitely hear impacts which is pretty awesome. Its hard to tell just how quiet it is, because the actions seams to be pretty noisy then the brass clanging doesn't help either.

Re: New contract Turbodyn

I'll throw up a photo of a .50 without any action noise, the bolt Windrunner. This is an early generation can, but you'll get the point. One is left with only sonic signature and impact noise. No action noise, quiet muzzle blast with the Turbodyn. This shot is of a real veteran, auctioned off for Wounded Warrior.
