As you can see, it was painted using an extreme digital camo pattern using a cerakote tan base and a forest green duracoat contrast with a small splash of black. It will probably shortly get refinished in an ATACs design.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to put any rounds down range, and after waiting for the build it looks like I may not get to. My wife and I are planning to adopt and I have two rifles getting here around the same time. I will have to choose one and sell the other.

Given that the other is also a custom POF build as an SBR done by Specialized Dynamics, it is a difficult choice.

Re: New custom 308 with Pics!

If both were an option at this point, I definitely would. There are times in life where you think trading in the wife for a new rifle might be a better choice for long term happiness.

And then you realize what a miserable, grouchy bastard you were before she came along and the decision gets way less attractive.

Re: New custom 308 with Pics!

Keep Larry's build, he puts heart and soul into his stuff. I'm intrigued by your barrel spec, why so short - what purpose did you have it built for (I would have thought as a urban rifle but the green...)?

Congrats on the plans for adoption. Check the lawyer involved VERY carefully, there was news of a lawyer in San Diego trafficking in babies (anything for a buck...).

Re: New custom 308 with Pics!

Yeah the green came out a little different than both Larry and I had planned. He and I are already planning a refinish. Looking at two possibilities for the refinish.

Either go through OnTargetCustoms (ARPredatorHunter on here) and do his ARP-ATACS paint. Or do a hydro dip finished in a flat clear protectant using prairie ghost.

I am leaning towards the OnTargetCustom job because I have seen the work, the durability is excellent, I can have him microslick the bolt, and the ATACS camo is a better all-around camo than would be the prairie specific job.

This is a Coyote rifle.

Its a little bit on the heavy side but the way I tend to hunt them, I pretty much walk out and get stationary and setup in an area of brush or -better- against a fence post in a slightly raised area of fence.

The current paint scheme definitely has too much contrast for the purpose. The coyote tend to be pretty good at picking out things that do not make sense and they will freeze a few hundred yards out instead of getting closer.
