Fellow shooting enthusiasts:

We've announced a number of products in the past couple months, it's been a busy year for us. Our last one for the year (probably) is the Bolt Lift (it is patent pending).

The Bolt Lift is a clamp-on oversize bolt knob for the Remington 700 rifles. This is similar in concept to the oversize knobs that gunsmiths install where they cut and thread your bolt handle. We orginally came up with this for guys who can't permanently modify their rifles, such as military snipers. We wanted, as snipers and former snipers ourselves, to have the advantage of the oversize knob, and for others to have the option as well. However, the benefit is not limited to the military or LE. Anyone who can't or doesn't want to send their bolt off for a "tactical" knob install can benefit. Currently these are in the hands of some sniper instructors, LEO's, and are down on the prize table for the 'hide Bash at Rifles Only starting shortly. Scott Mcree has been running a couple on his nice demo rigs.

The Bolt lift comes in two halves, made of polymer very similar to the stuff used by the high end accessories companies. It is clamped onto the factory bolt handle with a screw and some reinforcing rods (all metal is stainless steel). We include epoxy in the event that you just want to make it a permanent install. Included spacers adjust the fit to your specific bolt handle, as the factory handles have changed in size over the years.

<span style="font-weight: bold">*Now available in OD Green and FDE (Tan)as well as black</span>

Cost is 28 dollars.

These can be purchased on our website (go to purchase tab at link below) or you can send a check if you don't like online purchasing

Thanks,
Justin

Re: New for the Remington 700 - the Bolt Lift

Thanks Matt. Also why does all the neat inventions always come out after I have a Badger oversized knob...

Re: New for the Remington 700 - the Bolt Lift

You and me BOTH...

Luckily... I was JUST about to send off 4 bolts to have done... good thing I waited... I love the work my smith does on my bolts... but IF i can save a little money... and this works well.. then I will order a few more.

Matt.

Re: New for the Remington 700 - the Bolt Lift

Brilliant concept, I'd like to try one if I had a 700. Any plans to expand product line to accomodate actions by Savage, Winchester, Ruger, Tikka, Browning, etc?

Re: New for the Remington 700 - the Bolt Lift

Justin,
If not using the epoxy for permanent install, would the rubber O-ring insert to compensate for OE knob size difference, being compressed overtime, making the outside knob loose in long term ?

BTW, I just ordered one too.

+1, aren't AIs, TRGs, and Tikka knobs hard polymers also...

Re: New for the Remington 700 - the Bolt Lift

JT,

We have run them on Mk13s with NF, S&B, and PH with no clearance issues. I'll ask Justin to post up some dimensions here in a bit.

Re: New for the Remington 700 - the Bolt Lift

M855,

No worries.. I was joking as well..

I am looking forward to the item though to see how it really performs... Looks like a cool invention though.

Matt.

Sounds good.

Re: New for the Remington 700 - the Bolt Lift

you guys need to make handles for different brands!!!! HOWA!!!!!

also are there any plans for other designs?????, only mention it as it seems in the aftermarket bolt knob scene one can find any size and shape they like, lol

cheers, looks great, jim

Re: New for the Remington 700 - the Bolt Lift

Wow thanks guys! We've been hard at work so it's good to hear the positive comments. Ok so I'll address what has been asked so far.

-Durability, think of how durable the stuff is from a leading AR accessories manufacturer, say Magpul. Then increase the wall thickness a bit, and shrink the product down and wrap it around steel. We haven't seen any durability issues, but if they creep up, we'll fix them. You can scratch the knob with a rock or crush it in a vice, but normal field use should present no issues.

-expanding to other actions, the Savage comes with a pretty big knob already, but if there is a demand, we will fill it.

-Spacer (Oring) set- We have chosen a compound that is supposed to resist set (also is ok in the weather and temp extremes). It's not the same kind of oring you can buy in Ace. We haven't seen any set issues so far. However, if this occurs, we will send you new orings or you can use the regular ones you find at the hardware store. To completely eliminate even the chance, you can use the epoxy in the same way you bed a rifle, i.e. apply release agent to the bolt, then a bit of epoxy in each half, then assemble. It will be rock solid and yet still removable. Instructions for this are included. We will do a video soon too.

-different designs or materials- we will do different colors if guys want something other than black. We're using a really good material, with glass reinforcement. We could maybe do a carbon fiber reinforcement down the road but the benefit is very small. What did you have in mind?

Okay looks like we have some shipping to do! Thanks for all your orders so far!

Re: New for the Remington 700 - the Bolt Lift

DJA-Excellent, thanks!

Pax-with the epoxy (either permanent or temp) it is rock solid. With the spacers, it is very solid but on some knobs if you twist really hard you can turn it a tiny amount. If you weren't looking at it as you turned it, you really wouldn't be able to tell it was moving. Different size factory handles will give different results of course, but we have included two different sizes of spacers, and we'll include another size in the future if necessary.

Jimi-since these are injection molded we can't just change the size and shape at will. But the shape of the factory handle dictates the shape anyway to a large degree.

Re: New for the Remington 700 - the Bolt Lift

would it be possible to make one of these more similar in size to a badger/badger style knob?

i think it is a very cool idea, just a little large for my tastes. but good work!

Re: New for the Remington 700 - the Bolt Lift

It does look huge but it's not that big in real life, haha. It's actually the same diameter at the end as a Badger knob.

There's one way to make it smaller, but it would be a permanent install at that point, i.e. you epoxy it on. If there is enough demand, we will do this. However, I think you'll find that the knob isn't as huge as it seems.

Here's a link where Scott Mcree is running one, also there's pics on his site.

We'll have some at the Mammoth sniper match on guns and at SHOT as well.

Re: New for the Remington 700 - the Bolt Lift

This is a great idea, can't believe it hasn't been thought of til now! But I do believe to be more competitive and reach a larger demo, you guys should have different sizes, shapes and model of weapon that you offer. But not trying to tell you how to run your business, just my .02. Great idea, eep it up!

Re: New for the Remington 700 - the Bolt Lift

Nice idea! Never thought I'd see an accessory for a 700 that 'lifts and separates'! LOL

BTW let me know if you can ship the UK, cheers.

Re: New for the Remington 700 - the Bolt Lift

Merry (early) Christmas to me! Just what I was looking for and the price is fantastic compared to the $70+ it would cost to send the bolt out (plus the fact that the rifle is useless for a week or two)

Just placed my order. Thanks guys! Keep up the innovation! Any other plans for the 700 lineup? I can't afford a Sako

Re: New for the Remington 700 - the Bolt Lift

I'm new to precision tactical bolties.

I'm kinda getting the "larger bolt knob" thing - I replaced a gearshift knob I had on a sportscar with a much larger knob. This reduced shift knob travel (or rather, my perception of same) by about 50%.

Is that why you'd do something like this to a rifle?

you can replace a shifter to reduce the throw but just the knob is mainly for feel.
some like the factory knob, most seem to find a bigger knob easier and quicker to work.
use the search there's a lot of bolt knob conversations on here.

dang all the knob talk sounds gay and i'm the one typing

Re: New for the Remington 700 - the Bolt Lift

ROFL.

He said, "knob."
butthead-butt-head.jpg

I guess that makes sense. I (ah God) should probably go feel a bunch of knobs to see if I want to pull my own. <blech>

Still looks like it might be a good mod for cheap!

Re: New for the Remington 700 - the Bolt Lift

Thanks for the kind words guys, and the humor haha.

A note about options, it's difficult to add different shapes as options just because you need to build a mold for each different one. However, if there is a demand, we will do it. If you have something specific in mind (shape or rifle to fit it on) please let us know so we can start to compile the requests.

Rem 700 stuff, we have something up our sleeve, but we've got some stuff to get into production first, namely our Whiskey-3 fixed and folder.

Boltstop, with a factory handle, one it's harder to grab, especially in a stressful situation, but two, I rack my knuckles on the scope or rings when I lift the bolt (one reason I like 60 degree bolt throw in TRG). With the Bolt Lift, that contact is alleviated for me.

A couple members here have had these for a few weeks already, so I'm going to ask them to chime in and give everyone another perspective.

Orders have been shipped guys. Thanks again,
Justin

Re: New for the Remington 700 - the Bolt Lift

I really like this knob, I was lucky enough to get one to try already. It will be great solution for those who want a knob on a rifle, but want it now and low cost. I also really like being able to use it on hunting rifles that maybe I don't want to be "tactical" all the time, but for a varmint rifle that I know I'll have a day just sitting and shooting P-dogs it's perfect, then remove it for a day of walking for varmints when I want a little sleeker rifle.

Now if you see some marks on the knob in my pics, don't judge the knob! I was banging it on the concrete and then hit it with a waffle faced hammer trying to get it to break. It held up very well....I'll see if I can upload that video later.

Re: New for the Remington 700 - the Bolt Lift

I was thinking along the same lines: product testing. I know a dumb bass who drove over two M-24's and on one of them the bolt knob broke off under the crushing weight of 6000 pounds of Humvee. Will have to see if the KRG can take it.
When I get my Knob in, I will see if anyone wants to donate another Remmy to the cause. Will post results.

Re: New for the Remington 700 - the Bolt Lift

My hammer video looked like crap so I'm not going to post it. Here's a video showing the 1 minute it takes to install the knob. I'm no Lowlight, I need to work on my video skills
