New from Kansas

Hello,
I am a firearms enthusiast who has spent most of my time shooting pistols. I have shot ar-15's, 8mm mauser and some 22 long rifle, just about all of my rifle shooting has been open sights. I have never really shot long range, mostly being 50-100 yards with rifle and under 20 yards with pistol. I got a good bonus check last year and bought a used m82a1 with it. I have always wanted one and decided to grab it before my state started charging tax for online purchases..I have not fired it yet as I want to actually learn to shoot with a scope and at range. I am here to read and learn and ask some questions and will throw out my 1st question here in my introduction....
Books...are there any books that you would recommend for me to read on how best to use and set up the scope?

Written by our very own Frank Galli (he goes by “lowlight” here, HMFIC of this shit), this Sniper’s Hide is his doings and baby. I doubt you would find a better start book. Frank is no slouch when it comes to direct reasoning and whys and the nuts and bolts of precision. This is what you might consider...to start at least.
