Thinking of having them build me a rifle. Probably a crusader with a manners stock. I would like any constructive suggestions any of you may have as to additions or alterations. Anything you've experienced that would influence any future decisions for a rifle build. I will have to sell a few things to get this done, so I would like to do it right the first time. thanks in advance.

Re: New Gap build

anything from George will be darn near perfect, just put a TOP QUALITY optic on it. He put a Vias break on mine and a Jewell trigger. Sweet.

Re: New Gap build

GAP has my components now and the wait officially started last Friday.

Badger M2008
AICS
Huber Concepts trigger

With a new SN-3 Tpal waiting in the safe to top it off.

I don't think you can go wrong with George and his crew. Spend plenty of time in this forum and these guys will answer any question. Good luck, you'll love it!

Re: New Gap build

The center-piece of this L/R loadout is my GAP trued, glued, screwed, and tattoed M700P actioned .308 in a MCS T1. The barrel is a Sendero profiled Rock 1/11.25 twist at 24"... note that the Badger FTE Bake is not oriented correctly, just loosely screwed on as I had been shooting it with a can right before pic... Drop me a PM if you have any questions about it....

Re: New Gap build

On the advice end, get behind as mnay dirrent stocks as possible!!! Some love thumbhole, others pistol grips, AI 's fanbase is about as loyal as they come, but are also first to tell you they aren't for every one.... Go to the range, gun guys enjoy sharing!

Re: New Gap build

My advice is, buy a cheapish precision rifle that will still shoot great (Remington 700P) and shoot the crap out of it. Eventually you will figure out what you like, what works for you, and what doesn't. Then you can have GAP build you something based on what you KNOW you will like and not based off opinions of people that are using their rifles for different things in different places, with different needs.

Going with a custom like a GAP is awesome because you can get EXACTLY what you want. If you aren't sure what you want, get something pretty standard and then you'll start to figure out what you really want.

Re: New Gap build

That is exactly what I am doing.

I originally wanted to get a GAP, but the 8-12 month wait was too long for me at this time. So I traded my RRA LAR-8 for a Remington LTR and Leupold Mk4.

I plan to shoot it pretty much stock this year and maybe next, to work on bringing my skill back up to when I shot matches a couple of decades ago.

Then look at accuracy jobs and stocks and the like, if I need them.

Re: New Gap build

SRV656s your 100% correct, I have several of the Remington bolt guns "Old model 223 PSS cut down to 20" and threaded . 308 LTR DM, and 223 LTR " all these shoot very well when feed the right ammo.
I had a DM PSS in 300WM but like a fool I sold it to fund a M1a NM build before I had a chance to get it out and dial it in.
I was really thinking of a GAP in the 300WM but opted for the 308 mainly because I didn't want to have "yet" another caliber to deal with and I have a large stash of FGMM .308.

Thanks for your input.
