Hi all, noob on the loose.

Not exactly a sniper as I only have an AR-15 (and pistols) as yet but I'll pick up a bolt gun soon enough.

I came to the hide to check out target shooting, i.e. how to make my lowly AR shoot decent groups on paper.

One issue is CT really doesn't have any public ranges beyond 100yds which sucks. So even if I had a nasty sniper rig and knew how to use it, plinking 100yds is going to get old fast. At least with the AR it's something of a challenge.

Welcome, I'm new here too. What part of CT? There's a range in RI that's 200yrds. You have to join the club, but it's something more than 100yrds.

How long a hike can it be? All those New England states are fairly small. Not like driving across Texas!

Plenty of options, southeastern ct has 200/300/400/500yrd ranges. Closed to non members but guest r allowed, driving a little will get u to sheepdog catskills ny 1000+, granby Ma 500yrd cheap and will eventually be back open to 1000.

There is a private (guests allowed) 400 yard range in Ledyard, which is at the other end of the state from you. PM me in you ever plan on being in this end of the state and want to go shooting.
