I have a buddy that has an Elcan specter DR on a16" 1:7 twist while shooting 5.56.

The question is when shooting with LC 5.56, can he shoot 25m zeroans be able to achieve a 300 meter zero? Will the reticle distances be accurate?

I don't have hands on experience with the Elcan, but just looking at the reticle (if this is the right one), and looking at a ballistic calc, it looks like you would zero the first hash mark (the 300m) at 28m. With M855 running about 2975fps out of a 16" barrel, and BC of .308, and scope over bore on an AR being about 2.7", it theoretically be dead on at 28m and 300m on the first hash mark. The center dot would be basically a combat zero from point-blank to 200m (but actually be dead-on from 160m to 180m). Or, if you have access to a 300m range, just zero it at 300m on the 300m hash mark. In theory, the the following hash marks will be combat-close out to 600m or further.

Again, don't have first hand experience with an Elcan, but maybe that helps.

Says here the reticle is calibrated for M855 in an M4 and is intended to be zeroed at 100 meters at 4x. See 3.2 page 27.

As for the 25/300 meter zero, I would first say that after zeroing at 25 meter you fine tune at 300. In any event, if you zero at 25/300 you will not be on target. Your POA will be low of your POI everywhere except at 300 where it will be dead on.
