Hello everyone!
I’m NOT new to shooting but I am new to the discipline of long range precision shooting. I’ve been wanting a Ruger Precision Rifle for quite a while and recently took the plunge and got a new one. I’m excited to learn to shoot it well.
However, my new rifle came with an out of spec scope base. I first found this out when my Vortex scope rings wouldn’t tighten up… and neither did the two other sets of scope rings I tried. I contacted Ruger and they sent me a new scope base. I measured the new one and it is just a bit wider than the original so I’m confident I can proceed with installing the new one and have no more issues.
However, there are no torque specs listed for the scope base. I’ve looked through the owners manual and can’t find anything.
I’ve found suggestions that range for 20 - 35 inch pounds.
Do any of you know what the torque spec should be for the scope base on a Ruger Precision Rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor?
I know I can call Ruger but they won’t be open until Monday and I want to get out to the range now!!!
I appreciate any insight and look forward to being part of the community.
Thanks.
