new member, been viewing for quite awhile. Former South Dakota farm boy and Marine, lifelong fitness junkie, former competetive armwrestler, mountain biker, runner, occasional martial artist who left rifle/shotgun/bowhunting decades ago. I was re-introduced to night time hog hunting in Florida, got back into bowhunting, and looking forward to improving my rifle skills. I recently completed a "precision" rifle transformation, taking my DPMS AR .308 into a better verion of itself. DPMS SASS barrel, JP brake, Troy rail, Elftmann trigger, Magpul PRS stock, Harris bipod, Accu shot monopod and Vortex RazorHD 5-20X50 scope. Also just completed a 16" Tromix .458 SOCOM build, with an ATN X-SIGHT4K Pro day/night sight for short/medium range Florida hogs (3 down with it so far this year, all "Marine Corps Proud" (1 shot, 1 kill, 300 grain Black Butterfly Barnes TTSX) . My bow is a Mathews Monster 7.0 in 80# (to punish a hog's shoulder/plate, sometimes more punishing to my shoulder). Interested in getting down to Manatee Gun Range near Sarasota to learn at increasing ranges and improve my skills , mainly with my .308 to its max range (hoping it is good to 850-1000, but Manatee only does 600 yard, I believe). That's me, in a nutshell. Will be looking for like minded hunters, shooters in the Tampa Bay area.
