I am a student at Lassen Gunsmiths College, and for my upcoming class I will be turning a new barrel blank and threading it for my Remington 700. Anyone that has any suggestions on what kind of twist rate to use using 168+175 federal ammunition. Any help is appreciated!

What length? Is it 5R? My 24" Bartlein is at 1:11.25, slings both those very well.

1-10 will handle all bullets including subsonic bullet up to 208's
1-12 will handle up to 200's, subs up to 170-180's
1-13 maybe 14 will handle up to 168's

You can't wrong with a 1-12 or faster

I think im going to stick with the traditional 1:10 twist, it stays fairly neutral and will allow me to run a little hotter. Thank you all very much for the advise!

I would go with the 1:10 based upon the already stated reasons.

A 1-10 will handle all bullet weights but your comment about running it hotter is 180 degrees off. The faster the twist,10 twist being fast, the more pressure is generated. More pressure means less powder, less powder = slower velocities. The slower the twist,12-14 twist, means less pressure. You can put in more powder. More powder = more speed.
