I'm new to your site, but I have been following it for almost 2 years. I've learned quite a few things from you men and women and appreciate your knowledge. I don't have a great collection of firearms but I figured I would share my most accurate ones with you. As a little background on myself I started shooting at age 6 with my father, he was a fairly accomplished shooter at the Williamsport, PA 1000 yard club and taught me from a young age to respect guns. I personally haven't shot that far but I hope to at some point. My longest kill so far is a groundhog at 604 yards, which by no means is a long ways compared to the some of the shooting I've read about on here. I don't claim to be anything I'm not and I'm just trying to improve on the skillset I have now. This is what I'm currently working with. I would appreciate any suggestions you may have, keep in mind that these few guns are used for hunting purposes, I'm not a sniper in any branch of the service.

My main long range guns are the following, a model 700 in .260 with an HS precision stock with a 6.5-20 VXIII, a model 10 Savage in .308 with a B&C medalist stock (just bought a 8.5-25 VX3 LR, probably the most accurate gun I have) and a Model 700 in .300 RUM in an HS Precision stock with a 6.5-20 VXIII. On the two Remingtons I've tuned the trigger down to about 2lbs. and I put a Rifle Basix trigger in the Savage (about 6oz.).

I do reload for all of these plus my shorter range guns but I would like to hear your recommendations on any of them. Thanks guys.

Re: New here, thought I would share

welcome adam, i was in your position when i first started asking different questions here. Go hit up the reload section, there are hours of good reading over there with tons of load development from everyone. Ive used it as a good baseline for all my reloading.

Re: New here, thought I would share

Welcome, nice sticks, I don't know why but Savages are very accurate, even though they seem to have rough rifling.

Welcome to participation.

What barrel do you have on your 700 .260? 260 remington, I assume.

How does it shoot?

A groundhog at 604 yards is not shabby at all.
