Has anybody had a look at the new Howa 1500 with the carbon barrel? I can’t find out much about them. My local shop had one and sold it before I got there which made me even more interested. Who makes the barrels and any real world experience on how they shoot?

I missed the post somehow. Noticed it still didn’t turn up much info.

Yeah, I’m trying to decide between it and a Savage Ultralight 110 308 for a hunting/plinking rifle. I know the HS stock has to be better than the Accufit and I’m not a big fan of the Accutrigger either.

For what's worth I believe the Howa 1500 is the same action used in some of the Weatherby rifles. My wife shoots a Howa 1500 target Master that is stupid accurate. Currently we're looking for the Oryx in 6.5 Grendel for her.

I recently got a Howa 1500 carbon fiber in 6.5 prc. From everything Ive heard and read Howa is making their own carbon barrels in house. I've had great experiences in the past with Howa 1500 and Vanguard rifles. This one not so much. I tried a couple different brands of ammo and cant get anything to group under 1.8 inches, most groups were 2.2-2.8. I had a look at the muzzle crown with my bore scope and looks pretty bad. I reached out to Legacy sports, waiting to hear back.

looking to pick up one of these rifles, any word back from Legacy Sports?

Sorry for the late reply but yes I did hear back. The guy I spoke with was less than helpful. He said because I'm in Canada I shouldnt be calling them and then hung up on me. I brought the rifle to my gunsmith, he recut the crown and bedded the stock for me. It shoots better now, averaging 1.2moa with precision hunter ammo. Still not great for the price of the gun ($2350 canadian dollars). I wont be buying buying another Howa for the simple reason of the rude customer service rep at Legacy. I later found out that there is a gunsmith in Canada that does warranty work for Howa, buddy at Legacy could have at least told me that before hanging up on me haha.
