call me crazy, but i was looking at the bolts on both my howa and rem 700, thinking how much better they would be with a medium sized round bolt handle just like those found on AI, TRG bolts etc....but somehow with a bit more grip. not knurled though....

then i thought to myself, wait a minute, what could i use, and tap and thread to make my own, and i thought, hmmmm, what would be perfect is one of those rubber covered steel mouse balls that are in old mouses (mices???) from old computers!!!?????? you know, the ones you were always pulling crums and hair and god knows what else out of, so they would work properly!!!???

rubber coating would be fantastic for griping in all conditions, just like those soft-touch stocks, (hogue, etc)

i think they would be the perfect size and weight too...if anyone has ever had one of them thrown at them, they can tell you they friggan hurt! we used to steal them from school computers in high school and have wars at recess, lol

couldnt be too hard to tap one to fit onto a bolt handle shank could it???

damn it now i just want one!!!!!

im not sure if anyone has ever done it before, but as of the last .5 minutes that i have been pondering it, i cant see why it wouldnt work????......

let me know what you guys think, tomorrow im going to the scrap yard to get some old mice (not the plaguey, hairy kind) to see if i can make em work....

cheers

there's a whole lot of things that can be used, including maybe even a golf ball, knobs from a lawn tractor, "suicide knobs", the handle off and old screw driver, etc.

just depends on how you piece it together, and what your visual / functionality acceptance would allow.

i've never seen the ball out of a mouse, but hey why not?
