New Jack Reacher on Prime

I liked it.…and I’m usually not a fan of movie adaptations of novels because you are trying to cram 12-14 hours of story into 90-120 minutes. The 8 to 10, 1-hour episodes is perfect for capturing the essence of a novel.

Sure, it had some cheesy stuff and I could nit-pick where it diverged from the novel, but I thought they did an altogether decent job.
After “Without Remorse” I was rather skeptical.

I‘ve read 19 of the Reacher novels. I think they captured Reacher rather well.
I think he is a lot less talkative in the novels (…..Reacher said nothing….), but I get that he needed more dialogue for a movie.

If you are reading this thread, don’t let the comment dissuade you from watching it. If you liked the books, chances are you will like this series too.

By the way, Anyone else catch Lee Child’s cameo in the series?

I hope they continue the series as Reacher is an interesting character with some awesome, ready for TV type story plots.

Finally realized what is is about 'Reacher'' that doesnt seem to fit. He doesnt walk like a guy whose done what hes supposed to have done, He moves like a guy who bulked up in a gym. I see the same with guys like Segal, they only move with their legs,

I grew up on farms, spent a lot of time in the woods, done hard work all my life, Timber cutter, mason, You learn to move with your whole body, gracefully. Same with ya'll who humped rucks in jungles or up mountains. We move with more directed energy, more energy conservation. Thats something you cant learn in a studio, you've got to be out in the shit.

And Roscoe's tits may be small but they're nicely shaped. A definite "Id hit it."

I agree. It’s like he has trouble moving. Gym muscle and no flexibility. The Reacher character is almost bumbling and clumsy-ish in some fight scenes. Walks like he’s got a hip bruise or banged his knee against a solid table.

The last big fight scene, since it’s already been mentioned a few times, leaves much to be desired. Added to that is it seems the Reacher actor got about 3 min of firearm familiarization training, from someone who wasn’t familiar with firearms. Awful.

Mr. Baldwin, perhaps?

I enjoyed the series because I expected it to be pretty terrible. Any adaptation of a book is meant to be mindless entertainment. Want some mental entertainment? Read the fucking book!

Plus, every 30 seconds I couldn't help but think of Thad from Blue Mountain State (watch the clip!). Damn it if that show didn't get me through my 2012 deployment!

I actually enjoy the show. I don't have high expectations, it's not as if the books are high literature. They're entertaining garbage that you read in one day. Show is the same.

Based on comments from people I respect, I muddled thru it.

I stand by my comments on the production quality of these Amazon and Netflix shows.

Sticking it out, it became amusing. I don't sit and "watch" anything, I just have it on in the background while I do productive things, but I was mildly entertained. Got pretty dull towards the end, however.

Bosch was good early in. Got a little far-fetched when he started jumping out of airplanes, cursing out the Chief and saving the City once a week, along with his daughter who went from middle schooler to ultimate bad-ass over a couple shows.

I liked the first season OK…. Not as well acted, but better than the Tom Cruise adaptations. Entertaining, and that’s all I want or expect from a tv show or a movie.

Just binged the first three episodes of season 2 that were released today, and like it a lot to be honest. Looking forward to the rest of ‘em.

Thanks for the reminder, forgot it was starting.

Yup.
I'll give season 2 a thumbs up.
Not the best thing I've ever watched, but far from the worst.
For context, I did like season 1.
The guy that plays Reacher, I feel, is substantially better at it than Tom Cruise, certainly more believable as he actually has muscles.....unlike Cruise.
I liked him better in Blue Mountain State 😁 totally didn't recognise him in the new fast and furious.

Season 2 reacharounder is going well IMO.

Hosting Christmas at our house. Family will be in town. Prep has been maddening. Wife is on a tear. I’ll have to binge season 2 after the holidays.

We enjoyed Season 1, and hoping Season 2 is tolerable. Comparatively, damned-near ANYTHING is better than the abomination that was titled "Without Remorse".

So, not unlike comparing President Carter to dolt you have now, this season of Reacher should stand to be pretty-damned good.

How's THAT for context?
