Hi all,

I am new to reload and I just got 100 new .308 win Lapua brass. Do I have to size them before I load if yes, full size or neck size.

Thanks,

Re: New Lapua .308 win brass

Just run them over the expander and chamfer the mouths, done. The Lapua 308 brass I have when seating the bullets makes for a lot of neck tension, I dont know what a guy can do about that except shoot them and then do the neck sizing with the proper bushing, in the case of the lapua that would be a .334" bushing.

Yeah, the necks are pretty tight the first loading, so I just chamfer and load. After the first firing I run a .336 bushing on mine. The loaded rounds measure .337.

I also tried the 336 bushing and am able to seat the bullets with my fingers, you think maybe the tension is a bit too low? yeah, I can pull them out with my fingers too. Actually, they slide in so easily they fall out by themselves. I dont know how you guys get by with the 336 bushing.

SUB, what do your necks measure with bullet seated? Im getting just shy of .339 in my Lapua brass. .336 bushing just does not work, you must have thinner walls in your lapua brass.
