Suppressors New M&P 45

Well I went and bought the S&W M&P instead of the Glock 21. The pistol just fits my hand better than the Glock. I even handled the SF model, but it felt "clumsy" in my hands. It felt like there was a lot of "voids" in my grip. I would have been happy with the Glock 21 if I hadn't handled the S&W, but the Smith just feels good in my hands. I bought some ammo and brass from fellow SH members(thanks for the good deals). I found a good deal on a new X-300 light-so I will probably order that tomorrow. Now all I need is a good set of dies and a good round nose mold so I can cast up a couple of thousand bullets. You guys helped me in this decision. So THANKS. Tom.

The M&P line series are good pistols. The Glock looses alot of potential buyers because of the grip. Smith has changed thier attitude from back in the 90's. The experience I have had with customer service was awesome, so if you have any questions or problems call them they will take good care of you. I own a Smith 1911 Tac in stainless, and its as good or better than some of the other 1911 names thrown around, but becasue its a Smith people shy away from it. ENJOY the new addition

Hog,

what mold are you looking at purchasing?? Ive been wanting to get into the whole cast your own scene for awhile but I just dont know much about it. What alloy do you prefer?

I am looking for a 230 grain round nose mold. I have a couple of 45 caliber pistol molds, but I want the round nose mold. I will probably go with the RCBS mold.

For 45 ACP velocities straight WW will do just fine for these bullets. I will probably go with Carnuba Red for my lube.

Just be careful when you start casting. It is highly addictive. Tom.

I have a very good friend who is the general manager of a GoodYear tire store in my area. So I do not have much of a problem obtaining lead. I have about 4,000# of WW and about 1,000# of pure lead stashed away. I just picked up about 400# of pure lead the other day. I have a friend who remodeled a doctors office and I got the sheet lead(gypsum backed) from the X-Ray room. I have learned to be a scrounger over the years. I am always looking. However I believe I now have a lifetime supply stashed away. Tom.

Tom,

Not to keep hijacking your thread but I came across roughly 100 pounds of bismuth based medical alloy locally which I was told it is used in radiation therapy. Is it sufficient for bullets?? My only concern is it has a really low melting point, roughly 190 degrees. Its free so I figure ill grab it if its usable.

I have only heard bad things about Bismuth for casting. But I have absolutely no experience with Bismuth. So all my information is second hand. And I am sure you know what second hand information is worth.

Go over to the Cast Boolit forum and I am sure you can get some good information there on the Bismuth. Some of those guys are some real experts. I learn alot of stuff on a daily basis from those guys.
