I gave up on Manatee. I build a Grendel for the 1000 yard range, get it done They close the 1000 yard and the 600 yards is never open. I call to see if it is open, drive and 1.25 hour to get there and it's closed. More than once.
After the 1000-yard range is closed, I find a mile plus range near Immokalee. They want a 2000 dollar membership fee for a year. I ask for a six month membership for $1000 and get it. I buy a 6.5 Creedmoor Tikka T3x TAC A1 to shoot farther than the Grendel. The place gets foreclosed about four months into my membership.
I am now going back to square one and work on better reloading, then better shooting fundamentals at 200 yard @ the Cecil Web Web Range 20 minutes from me.
The new folks at the same facility now called Training Grounds want $200 per moth for the mile plus place. I may do something when I am shooting were I want to be consistently.
The Manatee club has the annual membership meeting in March, I may go and listen to what may happen there.
A private grove/ranch that allows a disabled vet to shoot close to a mile once in a while would be ideal. I cannot shoot prone and am close to being wheelchair bound. I can create the shooting place and provide proper targets.
I miss the opportunities to shoot wherever growing up in Iowa, shooting a shitload a various stuff in my 20+ years combat arms Army career. Even living in Barstow/ Fort Irwin, CA and being able to just drive and walk into the desert to shoot.
