Welcome to the Hide. Lots of good info on any questions you have if you use the search before asking. Buy the best rings and bases you can afford, the fit is much more precision on everything on how it fits the action, how the rings fit in to the mount and even how well the scope fits in the rings. We use Seekins rings and Farrell mounts. We used 30moa but 20moa will probably suit your needs for that distance.

If you are planning on 1000 yards the 6-24PST would work better. We use the 4-16PST FFP on a couple short barreled LR guns and on the smaller targets the crosshairs will cover up the target. A buddy just got the 6-24PST but in SFP and it's really nice and is doing a great job for him. Can't be beat for the money.

Finish filling in your profile and possibly someone local to you will invite you to look thru their PST scopes.

+1 on the 24x

Or that he just bought his "Sniper rifle"!
