I just purchased TA01 NSN ACOG and will be putting on my Bushmaster M4 (16.1" barrel). Used M68 CCO (aimpoint red dot) in Afghanistan and was pleased, but thinking 4x is the best option for me. I'll try to post some targets when I get it mounted and compare to my iron sights at same ranges. Should be interesting.

TA01 NSN ACOG stadia lines are based off M4 14.5" carbine shooting M855. The reticle has horizontal hold overs for 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 meters.

I like to formulate a rough approximation of the discrepancies for corrected aiming points at those stadia line ranges, when using different ammo other than M855 at those same ranges. I realize that M193 is very similar but other stuff like BH match isn't.

I could take it out and with different ammo just record the POI vs. POA at each of those ranges (200, 300, 400, 500, 600) using non-M855, but there has to be an easier way to begin.

So how do I do this? Was thinking run JBM simplified out to 600 meters (100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600) using a 100 meter zero calculation between the M855 and brand X 5.56. Then look at the differences between them at those 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 - I can do hold overs/unders at each stadia line based off the differences.

So if M855 drops 56" at 16" at 400 meters and brand x 5.56 drops 30", then I know how to hold when shooting the steel plate at the KD. Did I miss anything?

Great sight i have had one for years.I have it on a .308 16 in barrel now and the lines roughly work out to 400 on 8 in steel.Just go out one day and make your own data sheets it will be fun anyway.I dont think you will see much difference between m193 and m855.The heavys may require a little more hold over.Great all around sight have fun Richard

As long as you stay in the same class of bullet, it won't be too far off, but I ld just go out it on paper and pull some triggers. That's really the only way you'll see what your ammo does in your rifle.
