Rifle Scopes New Optics...

I've been using a SWFA SS 10x on my 308 for a while. I have money set away for a new stock when it becomes available, and I'm thinking about upgrading my optics. I'll have the funds within a month. I've gone and convinced myself I need a mil/mil scope for my 308. I've had absolutely NO issues with my SS, but something tells me it's time for an upgrade.

The main option in my head is the PST 4-16 mil/mil in SFP. I don't really need FFP, so I won't get it.

I keep reverting back to my SS is good enough for what I'm doing, so why should I upgrade? Save the money for when the "need" for something else arises, or just put it away.

I know I don't "need" a new scope, but I sure want one like somethin' fierce. I keep thinking that the money could be better spent elsewhere...

Well no one knows how to better spend their money than you. The SS is a good scope, so you would be justified to continue to use it. My only wish is that they would make that base model with matching turrets and reticle. If it were me, that would be my main reason for upgrading. The Viper would certainly accomplish this.

I decided to bite the bullet. I'm upgrading. I listed the SS for sale.

That a boy. You will not regret it once you use the matching reticle and turret. It just makes life easier.

You don't NEED a rifle either... but you want it. Get what you want. If everytime you shot your rifle you wished you had a better scope you wouldn't enjoy it as much, Get what you want. This is a hobby, get the toys you want.

Like a game of chess. You don't NEED a queen to win, but man it's nice to have it.

Except it will only match at one magnification setting....

I don't myself having a problem with this. Most shooting I do is at steel and targets. I'd like to shoot comps, but there aren't any up here. And with my age, I might not be able to get into them.
