Kitsap,Wa.
I just picked up my RBROS built 6.5x47 Lapua yesterday from Travis at RBOS.
It was one of his back up match rifles with about 250 rounds down it so it wasn't brand new but new to me is all I care about

Seeing as there's hardly any pictures or reviews of RBROS rifle's on here but plenty of happy hammer RBROS owners I'd post some pics and info up for everyone to see what a quality builder they are, That and great people to boot!

Re: New RBROS rifle

Bad part is, now I have to compete against these rifles! I know the only time I shot the 6.5 on paper, it shot a nice little .368" group....that was outside measurements. Was meant to be my "sleeper" backup rifle! Oh well, have some new things in the works. Glad it went to a good home.

Alan, congrats on winning the series monthly matches....I am coming after you next season!

Re: New RBROS rifle

Great choice! Both of my Rbros rifles are absolute shooters! I had Travis build my 6.5x47, and it is my absolute favorite rifle. Have fun with the new rifle.

What is the blue zip tie for?

Re: New RBROS rifle

Well got out for the first time with it yesterday and put 15 rounds down range after I got it zeroed.
Mind you I've been shooting with an AICS chassis for the last year and this is with virgin Lapua and the 42.2gn. load that Travis suggested...I think its a good start for sure.
I pulled at least one flyer.

I also took the time while I was waiting for some of the reloading components to show up to paint the stock in 6 color multicam, that way Alan and I don't confuse our rifles at the next match we're together at

Thanks, Its only the finest Krylon money can buy

I did my AICS last year and its held up great with 3 coats of clear flat on it, Besides its easy as hell to repair if you ever do any damage when your riding barricades or shooting out of dog houses.

Re: New RBROS rifle

Boring is good when it shoots like you do, it speaks for itself !

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: Alan_H</div><div class="ubbcode-body">great now mine is just boring..... </div></div>

Going to try and get out in the next day or two to put a few more down range.

Re: New RBROS rifle

Well I've been to one match and the range more than a few times working up and fine tuning loads and think I've settled on 42.3gn. of 4350 seated at the lands has given me an average of 2960 F.P.S.
I had it jammed originally and the load worked great but extracting a round and unseating the bullet after time was up on one stage made me go back to find a new seating depth.

Tested it out at 300 yards yesterday morning in C.H.S.S conditions ( Can't hardly see shit ) with some bad light and dust being thrown up from shooters at the 100 and 200 berms in front but still managed this group, so I think I'll keep it where its at.

37.5 grains of Varget also worked great at 100 and 200 and also tired it out yesterday at 300 as the first loads but with the amount of dust and glare coming up I'm feeling the results we're a little skewed when compared to the 4350 in a little better conditions.

Also picked up a Vortex Razor from one of the Hide members and am very pleased with it. Definitely built like a tank.
Here's a new shot of the whole package

Re: New RBROS rifle

Good Lord! This thread has got me stoked! Travis is building me a 6.5 creedmoor right now that is almost exactly like the Lapua above....I can't friggin wait!

And because I've never been good at waiting I traded for an Rbros built .243 AI last weekend from a very cool gentleman and fellow Washington "Hide" member. I'll post pics soon of very, very sharp looking rifle...and I've got some reloading dies coming from midway so that I can start fire forming some brass. Come on UPS man, get here soon!!!

Re: New RBROS rifle

Hey guys, I got a new rifle and I am pretty stoked about it.

It's a defiance action I got at the Findlay cup. Put a Bartlein barrel on it that I had laying around from a trade I made last year.

It was mated together by RBros to be a 6.5x47 lapua. I'm shooting the 130 JLKs with my confirmed BC of .602.

I have never shot paper before at 300 yards, but with the new rifle I thought I would give it a shot.

Here is a picture of the only five shot group I got. Witnessed by Brian Pence.

5 shots at 300 yards.

Measured center to center at .588" at widest spot.
Vertical measures .332" max.

About a constant 4-5 MPH wind from our 5 o clock.

Best part about it is that this is shot with leftover ammo from my old 6.5x47. Seems like I can skip the load development part with this new gun!!!
