New Rem 700 with HS stocks and 5R bbl

Thanks. Appreciate the info.
Just to make sure we’re talking apples and apples mine is a Gen.2 black cerakoted stainless with a fluted 24” threaded 5r barrel in a tan with black webbed HS stock. I paid about $900 at bass pro a couple months back on sale. There’s some older models out there but their stainless doesn’t have the cerakoting and the hs stock is green and black.
Mine shoots those sub .5 moa groups with factory 147gn Hornady ELD ammo. Im waiting on some components for reloading and expect to tighten those groups up a little. With my bad eyes the rifle is probably capable of better accuracy than I am. A friend that has several custom rigs was pretty surprised/impressed with it’s outta box accuracy too. He wasn’t just being nice either that’s certainly not his style. Lol
I’ve also heard lots of bad shit about Remington but I think it’s from their entry level stuff. I’ve had nothing but good results from my Remington rifles but I don’t typically buy the lower end models like the ADLs or SPS’s. I have once and it shoot’s damn good too but I didn’t care for the stock. It felt cheap to me and I end up spending more money in the long run replacing it. I actually considered buying a $500 adl Varmint and a $400 krg bravo chassis. The adl varmint in 6.5cm with it’s 26” heavy barrel can probably reach out 50-100 yards farther than my 24” barrel. However they aren’t threaded and I wanted the ability to add a muzzle brake later on. I haven’t done that because it’s fine like it is, but I like having the option.
I’m as happy as a puppy with 2 peters with mine. 👍

My .308 R700 5R shoots GREAT! I replaced the trigger for a Jewel and it clover leaf's 175 Berger VLD's behind 42.5gr of IMR-4895, .030" off the lands. It's in the process of getting rebarreled with an M24 from Patriot Valley Arms and turning it closely into an M40A-1 . I'm going to post the green HS Precision stock up for sale in a few days, if you're in the market.

I always liked the m40a1s. It’s funny how your barrel contours name is m24. When you mate the two together it’ll be like you’re marrying the corp and army’s sniper rifles. I better put the shit I’m smoking down. Lmmfao
I don’t know what it’s called or how to do it but let me know when you list your hs stock. I’d like to take a look at it and maybe give it a new home. Thanks for the heads up

Puff, puff, pass what you're smokin! ;) Lol! Yes....I know! It's almost sacrilegious to call them the same or even in the same paragraph. But, my goal was to put a heavier contoured barrel onto my 700 action, and glass it into a McMillan M40A-1 forest camo stock. I'm also thinking of coating the barrel and exterior of the action with FDE Duracoat. Call it the American military inbred rifle project, if you want. As some parts of the rifle would be marine corps, other parts from the Army and the loose nut behind the trigger is a Coastie haha :D . I'll post some pictures of the stock for ya when I get off duty on Sunday. The stock is practically brand new. Doesn't have a scratch or dent on it.

Hell yeah it’ll be a nice piece when you’re done. I don’t think there’s too much difference between the m40s and the m24s. The army usually has newer shit than the Corp. They got the new m24 while the marines are probably still upgrading old rifles. I’d bet the m40s perform better because the attention to detail that’s common with marines. I was in the navy. I was a aviation electrician when I was young. I got out went to college and became a psychiatric/mental health nurse and went to work for the va and joined the navy reserves. I’ve been retired for several years now but those were the best times of my life. I love the service it made me the person I am today. Lots of good people man. Things are different in there now but not any easier I’m sure. The average person will never understand how much service member’s sacrifice.
I can find something around here to drop in a good stock. Tell me what wanting for it and send me some pics. I check my mail throughout the day.
Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you. Keep up the good work. Semper Peratus👍

I have had 2 of the 5r's and they are pretty good. I currently have the 20" and I haven't touched the trigger yet and is probably around 4-5 lbs. As soon as trigger tech releases the 2 stage it will get replaced. Mine is pretty consistently around 1/2" at 100 yards. A better shooter could do better.
