Is the 1:10 twist ratio almost necessary for using a suppressor with 7.62? I was looking at the standard SPS tactical with the 1:12 threads. Plan on shooting 165-180 grain huting / target loads and 180 - 220 grain suppressed loads.

Not necessary, but more optimal than 1:12 for shooting heavier loads.

For the 220 grain loads, it may be necessary. I haven't tried shooting one out of a 1:12 to see if it is.

Re: New Remington 700 SPS AAC twist question

My expierence with 1-12 and 180 is that the groups are not as tight at 100. I have an sps tactical as well and the bullets didnt seem to stabalize as good as 168gr. or 150gr.

Yes...but if you are looking at these two rifles, the AAC is already set up for a can...why not choose that one?
