New Remington 700 trigger

I've adjusted many of the older model 700 triggers and have Jewell triggers on other 700s.

A fellow at the club has a "tactical" model new 700 with a very crisp trigger that breaks at about 10 pounds. Told him I'd help him.

What adjustments are on the new trigger?
Thanks

Re: New Remington 700 trigger

This has been covered quite a bit on here, use the search engine on the right die about halfway down and you will find everything you need. Mine didn't want to come off of 4 lbs so I installed a jewell.

Re: New Remington 700 trigger

For what it's worth, Remington recommends only adjusting the trigger pull screw and not touching the overtravel or sear engagement screws.

If it's the new X-Mark Pro trigger (changed in 2006), and is externally adjustable, be carfeful when adjusting it. I took my barreled action out of the stock to clean it and the trigger clipped the stock by accident. The screw broke in half right at the weakest point - on each side of the allen screw in the trigger used for adjusting the pull weight. I googled it and found a few others that experienced the same thing.

yeah they say just to losen the trigger set skrew its the same place on most 700 stock triggers on the front above the bolt releace button its not a button but you know what i mean just check that you dont got to lose you really hit the gun afterwards yes hit it with your palm saftey off to check that it wont fire also check for a slam fire ect.. its not hard to do

Re: New Remington 700 trigger

Had an X-Mark on my SPS-V with the tag that says factory set at 3lbs, it was somewhere over five, read up on them, got some input from my father who's adjusted many old 700's and other firearms, but it wouldn't adjust under four, contacted Remington, they wanted the whole rifle, kinda spendy shipping from AK, took the refund check bought a Timney and that fixed it perfect.
