New rifle couldn't handle factory ammo

I just fired a Nemesis Arms .308 with Hornady 150gr SST factory ammo. Out of the 9 rounds I fired, 7 were stuck in the chamber, and had to be rodded out, (2 of them punched out the primers). The last one separated at the base. None of the rounds felt hot (even the last one), and I had already fired 10 rounds from the same box of ammo in my FN A3G without any problems. Any ideas on what went wrong. Thanks in advance for any help

Re: New rifle couldn't handle factory ammo

1- don't fire that ammo in the Nemesis rifle. That ammo is too hot for it.
More than likely, the chamber is tighter and/or the lands are much closer in the Nemesis to get these pressures. Hornady ammo is typically at the high pressure end. I've seen and heard of their ammo being hot in many rifles. Just know this, and don't shoot it in that rifle.

Possibly what Chad said, however here's some other stuff to check.

Measure the OAL of the fired brass that didn't separate the head and note it.

Measure the OAL of the loaded ammo and check that as well.

If it grew substantially (more than 0.010", more likely 0.030+) then you could have a serious headspace issue. For the sake of warranty do not fire any reloads in it yet.

Please post pics of the fired brass.

Thanks for the feedback. I cant figure out how to post pix, or they would already be up. I talked with David Ives at Nemesis, and he wants to see the weapon and spec it out and see what happened. Seems like the best bet at this point. thanks again for the responses. dave

I fired some of the same loads in my FN pbr xp and they seemed fairly hot, the bolt was sticky and flatened primers.
