Hey guys, so i finally got my 300 wsm finished up. schneider barrel, blue printed action, all the works. I got to say this thing is a hammer. Ive put 65 rounds through it over the weekend but just threw on a 3x9 hunting scope. I havent had a chance to work up a load even for it yet. I was looking at a vortex viper 6.5 x 24 x 50 at the old sportsmans wharehouse in bend. Not a bad deal for 399.99 they also had a crossfire for like 99 bucks but after reading the reviews on it it look as if it may fall apart lol.

My question though is does anyone have any hands on experience with the vortex viper like vs. the falcon menace. Pros n cons i guess, its a toss up between those two as thats all my funds will allow for a very long time, I have way too much into just the rifle now. O and heres a couple pics of my first actual custom.

Re: new rifle help

In that price range, I find the Falcons to be a great scope. I think you would be very happy with it. It has a lot of features that others can't begin to touch in that range. It doesn't do everything great, but it does it good enough. Plus I hear their warranty service should serve you well if you ever need it.

Congrats on the rifle and I have to say, that is an awesome bar stool.

Re: new rifle help

My wife just got a new rifle and I had a Viper 6.5-24x44 to put on it. She didn't like the thickness of the retical, so we changed it out and I put it on my 308. I've been using it a couple of weeks(around 100 rounds)and it is doing a really good job. Glass is good and it seems to track very well. Dollar for dollar, for me it has been a good buy. YMMV
