New rifle on the way, how much brass to get ?

I have a new 6.5 CM on the way. I'm trying to figure out how much brass I should get to start out?

This is my first rodeo when it comes to a 6.5 CM. I hear the brass is hard to find at times. I'm thinking bare minimum is 200 rounds and ideally 3-400 ?

I'm planning on taking a class which requires a min of 160 rnds. I don't know how often classes end up shooting more than the recommended amount but I don't want to run dry.

Just curious what you guys do?

I buy as much as I can afford.

I have found 400 to be my minimum so I don't have to constantly be prepping/loading.

I typically try to buy in lots of 500, just because....

i just bought 200 from Midway for the 6.5creedmoor. Once i load test and work out the DOPE I will buy 200 more and keep at least 300 rounds loaded.

Hornady will probably run out in a month, then you'll be waiting 6.

Buy as much as the credit card will hold.

I saw Midway just beat out PowderValley's price. I'll probably order some from there soon. Hopefully there's a hide coupon floating around.

I always start a new caliber with 400

I always go with 500. But with my recent puchase of a 338 lm, I could only afford 200 haha

Get 1000 of the same lot. Then you won't be searching here in a year for more of the same. JMHO

500 minimum, 1k if you plan on shooting it a lot.

One could never have enough brass for any caliber. I think!

Luckily, the majority of my rifles are common US military calibers, so I just buy once fired military brass. More is always better.

+1 more is better; when I built my 7WSM, I bought sufficient brass to burn the barrel and then check the brass and get more for the next one.
