New Rifle Question

Does anyone know if a Remington LTR can be ordered with a 5r barrel from the factory? I'm torn between an LTR 20" .308, a 20" 5r .308, and a 5r .300wm (that I would like to cut down to 20-24", or just prior to it affecting accuracy). The rifle will be for hunting deer and coyotes; yes I know a .300wm is overkill for a dog! However, I will also use it to plink steel at our farm out to or just over 1000yrds. It will not be used for competitions, just not my thing....YET. Also, I will not be reloading. When I say 5r I'm referring to Remingtons mil-spec 5r. Anyone have suggestions?

I would just buy the 308 5r it will get you out to 1000 just fine. That is if you can drive it.

Getting ahold of someone with an ffl is no problem, I know several. I also know a .308 will reach 1000yrds, my VTR .308 can/has, just not precisely. I'm looking to upgrade to a more repeatable accurate rifle, which my VTR is not. It met my needs when I purchased it, but now I'm wanting a bit more. The wife said I have to sell my current rifle to get a new one. So, here I am. My next purchase will be with the intention to upgrade....slowly. I do not want something I can't properly use repeatedly. Thanks for the information.
