how is it in any way possible to close the bolt on a 270 win with a 308 chamber?
That’s right.... because a barrel could never be larger than it states. I didn’t make the barrel. Just saying it happened. The barrel was replaced and the company admitted the problem. It was chambered and cut for a 270 however the barrel was 308 in diameter.

Better way to phrase that is 270 chamber cut into a 30 cal barrel that was marked 270.

308 is more recognized as the chamber/ cartridge and not as the 30 cal barrel size.
