Bought a Savage 10 short action (4.4 spacing) last June with intent of selling the parts and doing a build. Over the last couple of years, my buddy has helped me build a 223 (my trainer), a 308 (sold to fund this build) and my current build - 260 Rem. He helped me put the barreled action together. I have been buying parts for this build as I could afford to do so.

In January, I got some funds to complete this build.

Ordered an XLR Chassis from Kyle @ XLR Industries. The XLR Chassis has a strong following and for good reason. The fit and finish of the chassis is amazing. My action dropped in and no additional fitting was required. Quoted 8 weeks and received the Chassis at 5. Kyle has awesome customer service and will definitely get my business when I get another chassis for my 223 trainer.

Ordered a Criterion barrel from Jim @ Northland Shooters Supply. Criterion Barrel (Kriger subsidiary) is the go to for Savage pre-fits. Hand lapped and most say as good as other custom barrel manufacturers. Jim stocks common cartridges and barrel profiles. The 26" Varmint profile in 260 Rem Match (longer freebore for the 140 class bullets) was in stock and shipped that week.

Chad @ Titan Weapons did the muzzle brake install and cerakoting. He had done the cerakoting on my 223 trainer and was pleased with the work. He kept me in the loop with pictures at various stages of the muzzle brake install and cerakoting. Turn around time was 2 weeks mostly due to his backlog. He does quality work and will get my next build (talked at length about the 338 Edge). I chose Corvette Yellow as I have one year old twins and I won't be competing any time soon and I wanted something different.

I found a Vortex PST 6-24x50 FFP MIL/MIL on another board for less than a used SFP. The glass is amazing and am very happy with the purchase. Had a small nick on the elevation turret and a little sharpie magic fixed that issue right up.

I have ladders loaded for the Hornady 140 Amax and the Sierra 142 MatchKing. Looking forward to some range time :)

Very nice rifle, thanks for sharing. I'm in the process of building a 260 rem hunting/target rifle using a Criterion barrel as well. Going on 12 weeks now for the wait. I went with the same chamber specs as you (260 match chamber). Post some pictures of your target when you get it all tune in.

That turned out really good, looking forward to hearing the range report.

Hoping to get time this weekend, but have family coming in. My brothers and I will be using this to see who can shoot the best and hasn't lost their shooting skills.

that yellow looks great

Thank you. Original choice was Burnt Bronze but one day hastily decided I was going to go with something different and Corvette Yellow stood out as a great choice.

If someone had told me - a yellow XLR - I would have gone :(

But this thing looks GREAT - different in a very cool way.

It is different :)

I don't think I've ever actually seen a yellow rifle at any range I've ever shot at. I did want this to be different from all the other black rifles out there.

edit: plus I want it known, I am not a sniper wannabe :D

I've heard a lot of good things about the XLR Chassis and may have to give it a shot on my next build.

I am currently building a 260 rem throated to shoot 140gr bergers with 1:8 twist 26in sendero contour and will be on a 700 action. The stock is still undetermined since I want a manners t4 but I want a chassis kinda. planning to hunt coyote, deer, and shoot competition with it.

Kyle has a very strong following because of his customer service and his product. The aluminum chassis is light. Most of the weight of my build is the barrel and the optics. Definitely going to get another one for my trainer so I train exactly (well almost) as I would compete.

I looked at a Manners and for the price I liked the aesthetics of the XLR. The XLR is not for everyone (it is, but everyone's taste is different).
The 260 Rem is a great cartridge with lots of 140gr options and some pretty amazing BC's. I had a 308, but sold it and all the components to switch to the 260 Rem.

Yeah chassis are nice but I've never used one before so kinda don't want to risk buying something I don't like and it gets cold here so a aluminum is kinda bad, also I've never shot with a pistol grip but I've shot with a vertical grip

I also have an AR and wanted something similar as I go back and forth between platforms. My 223 trainer is on a Choate Ultimate Sniper Stock with a pistol grip. I will eventually move it to the XLR for continuity.
