I picked up a Vortex Gen2 PST 5x25 today for my Savage LH 110 Tactical, which came with a 20moa rail on it. I also picked up a Burris PEPR QD mount, because it looks like a nice mount, it's Burris (so I assume decent quality), and I was there, but I haven't researched it and certainly can take it back. But now I'm questioning whether to use this mount on the bolt gun, or take the Vortex Cantilever that holds my Strike Eagle 1x8 on my AR off, and use it on the Savage, and use the Burris QD mount on the AR. I'm thinking it might be nice to be able to take that big scope off the rifle when it's in the safe. Thoughts on the mount, and if it's any good, which would you put on which rifle?

Well, I'll take nobody jumping up and down yelling that mount sucks as a good thing, and just go ahead and put it on today..... ;)

My two cents would be...... use the qd on the ar.
1. You can easily remove scope and go to back up sights if scope fails on the AR.
2. With a qd you will probably experience a pony of impact shift when you remove them reinstall the qd. On an AR with a low magnification scope shooting at closer range you may never notice it. On the bolt gun at longer ranges the POI shift may be more apparent.

I have a PEPR 30-mm mount on a Savage 10 with a 20 MOA rail and you will be up off the stock quite a bit. With the PEPR and the rail that is a lot of extra height for your cheek weld. You may want to look for a lower mount or pull the rail and use rings. Also the cantilever works well with an AR but it pushes the scope forward a lot for a bolt gun, I need to mount mine at the very back of the rail.

Well, I think you are right. Even with the Accufit stock riser, I took the base out of the package and put it on the rail, and it is way up there. Going to take it back and just get rings like I was originally going to do. Thanks all....
