I was wondering what the best stock or chassis is best for a Remington 700 SA. Some possibilities-

Manners
AICS
McMillian
Whiskey-3 Chassis
I am open to any other suggestions and I'm sorry if this question was already asked.

Re: New Stock/Chassis

I would take a look at the JP AMCS. Technically it is a little more than manner or mcmillan to start with but once you consider it includes bottom metal, 2 mags and no bedding you actually come out cheaper. Its worth adding to the list but you will have to decide if you like the "AR" type setup

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't really want the AR-15 Look

There is no "best". There is only what you like.

The AICS is unlike the others on your list. They seem to be a polarizing stock. For many, either you love them or hate them. To me it's just another tool, so I have no real opinion either way. They work fine for me.

The Whiskey-3 is a great chassis, and we are almost ready to post our review. It feels good and has some nice features. It is fully adjustable for lop, comb, cant, etc. It has a very large pistol grip which will appeal to some, but not others. The forend is aluminum and the chassis feels very rigid.

Both the Whiskey-3 and AICS are "drop in" chassis with no bedding or additional steps required. You bolt in your action and go. They both come with magazine systems integrated into the chassis.

The McMillan stock is the benchmark that others are measured by. They are solid and dead reliable. I can't say that I have ever had an issue with a McMillan and we have put them through hell. They will require pillars and bedding to get the most accuracy from them. If you want to use a magazine system, that will be an extra cost.

I have not used a Manners yet. I have held and fondled many. I have jumped up and down on one. I have not seen any faults in them. You can either purchase the standard stock (with several options) and have it pillar bedded. This option will still leave you with the internal magazine or the option to install an external magazine system as an added accessory. However you can also order the stock with the Manners Mini-Chassis. This allows the Manners to be a bolt-in installation AND adds a magazine system accepting AICS magazines.

You really can't go wrong with any of them. However they all have a different feel. None of us can tell what you will prefer, so the best answer is for you to try to handle them.

If you cannon do this because of your area, then you may wish to try the AICS or Whiskey-3 first. They should be relatively easy to sell without much loss if you don't like them.

Re: New Stock/Chassis

I am in love with the manners t4. I used to shoot an aics too. Not only does manners make an awesome product they have great customer service and put up quite a bit of prizes at matches and sponsorship stuff

Re: New Stock/Chassis

I was somewhat in the same boat not to long ago. I went with an AICS. Here are my reasons. 1. I have a 14 1/2 inch LOP. The AICS comes with the adj. spacer system and it does not cost an arm and a leg. as well with an adj. cheek peice. 2. bottom metal all ready there. 3.When you assemble action to the AICS its aluminum and no worries about bedding. 3. Victor Company makes the after market skins if you dont like the thumbhole. I do reccomend trying one if you can before buying.I was able to and liked it so I bought one. I am not saying that this is the all time award winning hands down stock to buy. It was what I chose for various reasons that work for me. As LoneWolf stated you gotta go with what you like and whats best for you. Good Luck all the stock you mentioned are good.

Re: New Stock/Chassis

I chose the Whiskey 3. I like the big grip and the fact that the mag releases with the index finger. I was kind of turned off by the AICS because the grip was too small for my liking. The McMillan A4 is still in my list of favorites but I wanted to have a thumb through grip. Manners mini chassis is nice too.

I did not choose the XLR or the JP because I didn't want to buy new rings.

Re: New Stock/Chassis

Try before you buy, be a real *isser if you put a rifle together by using 'the little brain' to do the selection and find out it does not fit/will not work for you.

My vote goes for the Sentinal, ticks all the right boxes for me, everything you need, nothin' you don't, never found it wanting.

Re: New Stock/Chassis

I used a McRee TMAG folder for my 338LM build this year and it is great plus Scott is super to deal with, will walk you through your project/ideas etc and make sure if you go with one of his chassis you are set up just right.

I also am sticking with the KRG Whiskey-3. I tried the AICS- too short grip to trigger for me. Tried JP, Tac-21, and XLR and they were too much like AR ergonomics. Tried McRee and it was a bit crude for my liking. The W-3 is sturdy as hell, the grip is perfect for me, the adjustments are well thought out, and the fit and finish are extremely good. KRG will be making smaller grip panels for those that prefer it, NV rails, and other attachments that make this the best modular chassis for the money, IMO. With that said, it's always smart to try some out before deciding which one will be the best for you. Unfortunately, I don't have that option living remotely so I just had to spend the time and money to try them all.
