After waiting for 4 months, my Manners T4 arrived. It was built for a Tikka T3. When I put the action in the stock, I can't get the bolt all the way back. The comb interferes with the cocking indicator. I have seen pics of other T4s that have a relief groove in the comb for this problem. Is this something I can do myself? I've got quite a bit of experience with woodworking. I just don't know how the material will machine, I would thank that a carbide router bit would do fine. I sent an email to Manners this afternoon but I guess they had split for the holiday.

My Manners T3 had the exact same problem. The relief groove for bolt cycling was not milled into the stock, so the bolt would hang up when retracted. As a machinist I have worked on fiberglass and it cuts just like anything else, pretty easily actually. If you want to go in yourself and do it I'd recommend a 7/32 endmill and taking the groove about 1 1/2 inches back. However, I don't recommend doing it at all in case something goes wrong and you're stuck with a fucked up stock. VERY aggravating after spending 800+ bucks on a stock, I know, but I sent mine back to manners and had it a week later.

Re: New stock = new troubles

Manners will take care of this free of charge I'm sure. Don't sweat it. Yes it's aggrevating as hell, but life will go on. Any machinist with a lil salt can easily do it, or a good woodworker also. If your unsure, send it back.

I'm guessing that you'll get a reply on here from someone (most likely Tom) within 24hrs even with it being a holiday weekend. They take care to their customers.

Re: New stock = new troubles

Just got an email from Thomas Manners. He said they'll ship it back on their dime and turn it around in 1 day
