Hello relatively new to the forum, have been hunting for a few years growing up but never really into punching paper. Around a month ago I bought myself a gift a Remington Target Tactical, I know it's has the gimicky triangle barrel but it also came with the stock I wanted so if the barrel doesn't work I can always change it down the road. I bought 20 moa Nightforce rail with burris tactical rings, and a harris bipod. I plan on getting my scope next month most likely a viper pst 6.5-22X50 FFP. Im hoping this is gonna be a decent shooter/ good beginner shooting platform for some the longer ranges. pics are below and comments/critiques are welcome. [img:left]

Re: New to the Forum and New Rifle

very nice rig, i had them burris tactical rings before and didn't have any luck with them, i had them on a remington sps tactical with a nikon scope and i was on the range and noticed them coming lose and my scope moving, i took it all apart and REapplied lock tight and torqued em down again and after quite a bit of shooting i noticed them moving again, maybe mine were a bad batch or something i hope yours work alot better than mine did

Re: New to the Forum and New Rifle

I think that will be a great start. I have the same rings and have had no issues. Even if you have issues with those rings, you won't be be out a ton of money. What caliber do those guns come in. I really like the stock.

Another Hider with an open mind is always welcome. Looks to me like you're off and running. Of course we are going to require a range report!

Re: New to the Forum and New Rifle

Thanks for all the warm welcomes, this lineup of the 700 family only comes in .308 cal which should be a great beginning round after all our military used it and still does today. I was going to buy a 5R which is a couple hundred cheaper but I was sold on the Bell and Carlson stock. The two rifles are pretty much the same both 700 actions, 5R rifling although the TT has a 26" and its Triangle shaped like the VTR, but the TT has the bell and carlson A5 stock. Besides what I stated for future plans I'm also going to get new feet for the harris bipod along with fluting the bolt and truing the action. After all is said and done the plans are to Cerakote in either a single color like coyote tan or do a desert type color scheme.
