As the title hints, this will be my first suppressor. Figure I'd start gathering information. I'll be shooting a desert tech a1 in 300 Norma. Overall goal is to maintain accuracy. I'll be shooting at distances from 600 yds to over 2000 yds.
I guess my questions start with, what are the top brands to look at?
What to lookout for, and what do you guys recommend?

If I was to buy a suppressor today, for a .300NM, it would be a TBAC .338 Ultra.

Top quality, great CS, great performance and they've been around for a while with no history of issues.

Because suppressors are so highly regulated by the government, it's important to look for stability in the company you are purchasing your suppressor from. If the company ever goes under and you need support on your suppressor - you essentially have a ~$1000+ paperweight.

Going with a smaller "boutique" suppressor outfit has its risks. Ask those who purchased Leviathan or Crux cans.

Thanks for the responses. Any thing else I should know about Suppressors? Maintenance, protection, wear items?

Make sure you have a dealer you trust and who pays attention to detail when filing the paperwork for you. This can save a lot of headaches down the line.

Maintenance; not much for a center-fire rifle can. Some folks are starting to perform routine cleaning if/when the carbon fouling adds a few ounces to the can. But, for the most part, very low maintenance.

Protection; not sure what you mean but most are hard on gear that gets used. I'd recommend a mirage cover/sleeve of some sort.

My first rifle suppressor was a Silencerco Saker 762. I bought it with the intention of swapping it between 223 and 30 cal rifles. I then got a TBAC Ultra 7 (30 cal) and use that one most of the time on my precision bolt action. The only time I went back to the Saker is when my wife and I shot a Silent Night match and she didn't want the heavier Saker hanging from her gun; so she shot the TBAC and I rolled with the Saker.

The above pretty much sums it up. Look for consistency and longevity, rather than the latest gimmick.
cant go wrong with TBAC, if budget is a concern the TBAC ultra 9 30 cal can be found for about half the cost of the ultra 338.
Both are great choices

Whatever you do, put it under a Trust. A Trust has way more long term value than filing as an individual. It can just be you filing the Trust as the only responsible member and add and remove people after processing is complete. Also pick a short title for the trust name as you must have it and your city/state engraved if you do a SBR.
I have direct thread Silencerco and SWR single caliber cans; it works well for me.
